That is swiss manager, not sman aka system manager.

I really don't get it, why do symbian and SE seem to work against the development of software supporting their OWN platform?

I have a hard time seeing how they gain from it? A great help on the way for SE and their uiq3 devices would be to encourage software developers and not the contrary, which seems to be the current situation.

Sure, getting an app signed should not be taken entirely lightweight, but making it impossible (or very hard) will only help their competitors to gain market share with broader and more software.

Other than short-sightedness, the only reason I could think of is extreme security. The joke is that now, even trojan and other malware makers have to get their apps signed before these could be activated.

I am sure that is precisely the point to signing. Without signing the apps, malware shouldn't be able to do much at all. I guess this is a double edged sword, to have good security, you need some form of control. And with control, it will definitely brings inconvenience. The ability to draw the line correctly will determine how well this idea will work.

I rather have less and better software, than too much SW and crummy sw.

To esato moderators, sorry to direct traffic away from your forums, but there are just too many forums for me handle, so for the beta testing, I selected only one.
