One thing that strikes me, is that Nokia still seems too be using the same old User Interface with only 1 item at a time on the screen. That's really a shame and a waste of a nice screen.

The Nokia User Interface was good on the old low-end phones with few features, but on the high-end phones with more features and more menus the User Interface is really bad.

Of course they do, that wasnt the point. Maybe I should have been clearer on this. Shipping doesnt mean the consumer has bought them. The relevance? If the consumer hasn't BOUGHT the 1 million phones, then Nokia cannot SHIP any more phones, cause the different retailers still have plenty in stock. My point stands. Food for thought. If it shipped 650 000 phones in Q3, and by now has shipped 1 million, the sales isn't going very good, now is it?

When operator/retailer buys a phone from the vendor it pays it to the vendor.

I have relations with several Phone resellers, so I have access to the prices the shops pay. I have proof on this, and all the proof u need is in the retail price anyway. The facts are in my post. Or do u disagree that T68 and T300 is basicly the same phone? Or that 5110 and 6110 was the same? All the facts you need are in my post, read it pls.

Well, actually I don't give damn even if you were married with a phone reseller. They don't know what the actual manufacturing costs for the phones are. They just know the price that manufacturer is selling the phone to them.

We were talking about the 3510 not the 3510i version. 3510 is NOT an MMS phone, no matter how much Nokia claims it to be. Check the specs or reviews. It cannot recieve sound(ie voices) in MMS, the pictures are all converted to black/white and it doesnt fully support animations. End of story. All of these are pretty vital to the MMS standard, hence my point.

I wasn't talking about 3510i. I have 3510 and it can receive b/w pictures, sound (MIDI files) and also animations. Please, do find out the FACTS first!!

True, except no one will buy it, and no one will carry it. We will have to wait to see. IMO the market for this device is so small, and the device is so unexciting in itself, that the few phones Nokia will sell, will hardly mean a thing. This is of course, my opinion.

Before you said that it's only for the operators. Try to make up your mind already!

Christ, define an MMS phone then. I just recieved an MMS from one of the TV channels here in Norway, where there are VOICES(not midi) MUSIC(real music, not midi) and COLOR pictures. None of these things does the 3510 support, hence it is not fully MMS compliant. To be honest, I find the 3510 mms options to be rather lacking, therefore I would not classify it as an MMS phone at all, since the content becomes so hollow after the phone destroys it. It's kind of like how u can send an SMS as an email, but only up to 160 characters. It's not REALLY an email is it? Just a substitute.

And you do? I have given you several good points as to why there are better margins on high end phones. You have not backed your statements up with A SINGLE GOOD POINT.

Newsflash bubba:If two phones are equal(T300 and T68 is the same phone +Polyphonic+Mophun/-Bluetooth) and the T300 is 50% cheaper in purchase to a store(FACT) then T68 will make SE a helluva lot more money. I cannot even fathom why you are arguing with this. You cannot have any grip on common sense if you disagree with this logic. Really. Sure, maybe its a bit cheaper to produce, but 50%??? COME ON!

True I forgot they stated they where gonna sell the thing. You got me there. I still stand by my previous post though, noone is gonna buy the damn thing, and I have my doubts it will ever be released to be honest.

@ Knut G:

I was laughing at your post, especially at this very impressive statement:

Quote:I have worked as a salesman for 4 years, and have access to all prices, plus often talk to company officials. The reason I refuse to budge on this stance, is that I know I am right. And you have yet to prove a single thing in the opposite direction.

This does confirm you have no clue whatsoever how much a phone costs to the one who builds it. You know the retail price so what??? Do you think that's how much it costs to the manufacturer??? Helloooo!

About 3510: it IS an MMS phone!
Take a look at e.g. GSM specification, you will see that mobiles can support 8 timeslots in any direction (wet dream). So you, who know many people and have access to a lot of information (), following your irrefutable salesman logic, all GSM phones on the market are not proper GSM phones, because they don't support the full thing. C'mon. Wake up!

Btw, here are a couple of good websites among others for your own information:

Whatever you say, it's still MMS enabled phone. It has MMS client inside.

Can you say e.g. how much are manufacturing costs for Nokia 3510 or for SE T68i?

T68 was new kind of phone from SE. It took a lot R&D recources (i.e. money) to make the platform functional. T300 is only a reuse of a T68 platform, so R&D costs where much more smaller than in T68.

I don't wanna argue with you in this case, since it seems that you don't have a single fact. I'll rest my case.

I think we should calm down...... Let's wait for the announcement of Sony Ericsson new phones and comment on them later...... It is unfair to compare announced new Nokia phones with old Sony Ericsson phones......

Interesting thread this one. It's quite amusing to see that so many Nokia employees embrace their own products on this site.
