SE is based on the idea to make profit. they want to keep making profit at all cost, they don't want to make the same "mistake" as ericsson did.
theire for SE invest very litle compaired to other brands.
if their profit would rise more, they would invest more in R&D, and not just for making extra acc, but for making more special phones.
like a real sportphone thats waterproof.
it would feel good to see SE become 3th, but i feels sad, nokia still increasing in sales volume, and samsung the worst brand in the top 6 making it to the 2nd place

@Dogmann
There's no need to explain yourself Marc, I know why you say what you say. I was just trying to give some insight into why some of us make the choices that we make, in the most sincere manner. It's not just the technology but so many other factors that can come into play. Personally if you've read some of my posts, you'll see that i'm not entirely happy with SE either in terms of its technology and customer service, and i've definitely had my fair share of criticisms on SE. Like any human, i'm not/never entirely happy. But i'm happy enough to still stand by it thus far. And i'm sure this is the case for other 'fanboys' (be it SE or any other manufacturers) like me.
@Damo55
Mate, I'm a fanboy. So what?

@Bart,
Are SE not now making more profit and selling more handsets then ever before, yet what you say should be happening due to this just isn't IMO. Customer Service is at an all time low and trying to abandon less than Year old problem ridden products because as SE claim there is not much more we can do due to hardware limitations is really not the way to treat your paying customers.
@all
Of all the new SE devices the K850 has received the best upgrade spec wise yet their so called flagship devices and smart phones haven't they are still virtually the same as the last release announced nearly two years ago and released just under a year ago except for an extra 64mb Ram just how is that moving forward when all around are implementing HSDPA even in non smart phones this leaves SE devices seriously behind all the competition.
Whilst i accept that some are happy just to have a good looking device and may not need these new technologies Business customers certainly do and this is where the bulk of these expensive devices had been sold. Many of these business customers and those responsible for implementing devices through out there companies have clearly stated they will no longer consider SE devices. More worrying than this is the fact that some of the Networks are hesitant to carry these new devices at all and that will certainly effect sales as not all are either willing or able to buy Sim free devices. I am not saying this will lead to the collapse of SE but it will most certainly effect what is already a relatively small market share in this sector of the market.
Lets face it Motorola with it's first UIQ3 device has chosen a better and faster processor and graphics added HSDPA and this is just there first UIQ device they are rumoured to have another 5-6 on the way and i am pretty sure they will have either the same or better spec than the Z8. If Motorola can do it and see the need why not SE as otherwise it looks like Motorola will be offering the best UIQ devices and that really will be bad for SE's image as owner of UIQ.
To anyone that still believes HSDPA is not a needed tech you really need to think again as it is here now and developing even faster than initially thought. The difference it already offers is massive and by Year end will be even greater. If you are buying and using a Data centric device i really don't see how any one can claim the speed of Data transfers is not relevant as that really makes no sense.
@Mode
Sorry that answer shouldn't of been directed at you and should of said @ all. The reason i am happy always to explain any statement i make is that IMO is how it should be. To many are happy to make comments and then are not able or willing to quantify them. This especially applies to those that are happy to launch personal attacks that are in reality completely false and unfounded but are used as a weapon of last resort as they have nothing left to say of any value or cannot back up what they claim. A bit like those that say this is an SE Forum don't knock SE phones go else where all because they can't handle the truth. I really hope the Forum can start getting back to a place where sensible discussions can take place with out the need to constantly try and knock one product or another and no that doesn't mean we all have to agree as that is just not realistic or even healthy. But lets debate with facts and all opinions are valid especially if they can be supported or even just explained rather than one liners that we are meant to accept as fact just because some read it in a review done some months ago on a pre production unit. Maybe these reviews should clearly state the firmware the unit reviewed had and be updated to take into account improvements made in the new firmwares as this may lead to a better account of current status of the device.

I think the current uptrend in SE sales is happening because people tend to get bored easily, and somewhere along the line, SE was there offering some exciting mobile phone concepts, specifically the imaging oriented cybershot phones and audio oriented walkman phones. Now the branding also plays a big role, needless to mention here. Technology-wise, SE is way behind especially in their smartphone line, but this is only noticeable to the technology literate, so I suspect SE feels that this is not a critical area to start working on/ improving ASAP. This being said, sales may go up as they predict, until people who used to own Nokias, Motorolas etc start to realize their crappy, unacceptable customer support. And like a big wheel, I believe this is where they'd go downhill. And if they don't start (I chose this word because it's virtually non-existant) customer support now, I have a feeling they're gonna be down there at the bottom of the wheel for a long time.

keep in mind that SE's main man comes from sony, and thinks more like a sony person then an /// person.
SE is doing some very nice things behind closed doors, they've got some good looking patents, but drawings alone won't make our hearts go faster.
SE wants more profit and at least a 3th place in terms of marketshare before they'll start making special things.

@bart & all
All your views of SE are great but after what you have said re making more profits and looking after their customers why is the reality so different then.
How many people have you heard saying what a great experience they get from Customer Service then? and not stupid e-mail response with standard answers that do nothing to resolve the issue the customer is facing.
How all of you can ignore these problems and pretend everything is perfect is just amazeing SE really does have some of the most loyal followers how ever misplaced it really is. SE have shown they have nothing but contempt for there customers and are only interested in one thing your money. Plus of course selling your more devices to get yet more of your money.
I really don't care any more as trying to have a sensible discussion with most here is just pointless as the facts count for nothing only a delusional view of SE counts. So you can all continue to praise the almighty SE until such time as they really disappoint you and then maybe you will see the truth at last, good luck because i have a feeling you going to need.
Marc

i know custumors service from SE sucks.
their repair service on the other hand is something i can't complain about.
i hardly send a custumor to the SE service center, i do it all myself because i know much more then those guys. but i'm just 1 man in 1 area.
SE needs to embrace all that was good about ericsson, every part of it, and then mix them with sony.
thats what a smart person would say, as a diehard ericsson fan i would say, split up before its to late
if you really want to complain against SE about its custumor service, then start a big petition here, we know SE reads this forum from time to time.

We also know they dont take any notice either they only listen and act when they forced to with a huge campaign to bring to light their wrong doings. As otherwise quite simply they couldn't care less as long as people continue to buy there devices and give hem money that is all they are interested in.
All the posts about problems and communicating with their customers were ignored with a wall of silence only when there users actions started to make it very embarrassing for them did they listen because they had no choice. I really don't care if Ericsson lost money they were a company i was proud to use their products and the quality and service they gave was excellent for all SE's greater sales and profits there customer service stinks and they treat there customers with contempt.
