Roll on Monday so we can be put out of our misery, £100 will certainly get the customers rolling in, wonder what kind of incentive they'll offer to existing users. Hopefully they may have learnt a lesson from last year, the market is completely different over here.

Thanks for the link, would be nice if current users got upgraded, don't fancy being tied up for another 18 months though i only got my contract in January.

Softbank the official carrier of the next iPhone in Japan

I can't really see the Japanese being overly excited about the new iPhone, or the original for that matter. They're already spoiled for choice when it comes to phones, with offerings that in my opinion are miles ahead of the iPhone.

WRONG. You don't know how obsessed Japanese are with Apple. Many were disappointed when they figured that they won't be seeing the iPhone on their country. You never know, maybe Apple will release a special/unique version with softbank.

Oh alright my bad. I knew Apple was big there (computer-wise), but figured the iPhone wouldn't have taken off.

Actually Apple is not that big in Japan, I can count the number of Japanese friends I know with Mac's. In regards to the iPhone there is a likely chance it will score big when it hit's the shores there, but its going to face some seriously stiff compo.

But until we see the final release it will be hard to gauge what the Japanese market will be screaming for. My guess is it will be a very short phase, also the price is what will commandeer its success as Japan has changed from the previous format of subsidised phones.

Well the last Apple store opening, 2400 lined up, with reports of over 8000 visited the store along in the first day. In many dramas, you also see a mac.

I expected Softbank rather than NTTDoCoMo, as DoCoMo is very demanding. This might be the phone that will snatch a lot of users away from DoCoMo and Au by KDDI to Softbank.

Remember, this amazing touch user interface is relatively new. Not too many phones designed with touch user interface, other than the recent SH906i, and that's not exactly 100% touchphone.

Apple's clever at marketing too remember. They'll be able to create another hype in japan =)
