it hasn't been found in the main, and it's possible it could be limited by the actual cam module itself not the firmware.
you don't even have to learn hex windows calculator converts decimal to hex and the driver opens in notepad.

kmzoltan your idea is good but as Joma wrote: "those are text labels only". however if we know address of text then we can find code from where this text is called. this point in code is very near memory allocation code. unfortunately you have to know a lot about ARM code, reverse engineering, disassembling code in IDA, bla bla... etc. pity...
i was doing things like that only for Motorola 68k so i'm quit. if someone who knows ARM will pull up this issue then 1+MB photo will be realized (of course if hardware memory is more than 1MB)
is this worth? in my personal opinion, more than 1MB photo will not increase quality. "a bit better" is not worth it
cheers

A bit better is better than nothing.

a little bit yes, not as much data will be lost in compressing it.

the best solution is to have possibility to enable 1+MB size and then see what we can expect to clarify results and satisfy some users

some people like to have big files, others not - everything for everyone

i think it would be more nice to have 1mb+ pics since as what i've observed on some other digital cameras they have 1mb+ size per pic thus resulting to a good picture quality.. and also i saw some cameras that generates 900+kb somehow have less quality.
