Haha. FAR more ruthless. Where I am, there are 48 mobile shops on the street. If someone walks out the door, they are into a competition store. Its a matter of survival! Anyways, I dont care why they make it that way. If I can get someone a contract that they would normally not be able to with consent of the applicant to "Manipulate" their time at address (Please, honestly) then I have no problem with that. I put it forward to them just like that. "Sir/Madam, please be aware that because this form states you have been in the country under three years, there is a high chance the application will be declined." The usual "Response is "Okay, make that 2 years". Take this away from the high street and all that is left are the Honest out-of-towners to decline your application.

Sucks but hey, the trick is being able to spot the actual fraudsters. We learn this very quickly. Mastering these two things and offering a great deal sits people down and passes contracts. They pay their bill - EVERYONE is happy.

Lol, I guess you're right
Truth is yes, it'd make everyone lives easier if we did let them all through, but because we do fewer contracts they watch us like hawks down here :/
We do about 20 contracts a week, tops, prolly like a 1/5 of what you do

Almost exactly 1/5th! In a busy month (Not this month - thats for sure) we can do 110+ contracts per week. Between 13 people though. All thanks to "Creativity". Haha

@ Daedalus85:
My Dad works for network rail and has been given an o2 open code and what he wants to know is can he use it with the iPhone contracts?

O2 Open Affinity it's called, basically gives you 30% off standard contracts. I don't know for certain if they include it in the iPhone contracts, but it doens't hurt to ask I guess. Best bet is ring them or pop into your local store.

@ Daedalus85:
I have converted my contract to simplicity on O2 because I was waiting for W980 and since they have launched it now its time for the upgrade.
I have got 1400Mins and 1000txts for a £30 simplicity after being with them for 18 months on 1000mins 200txt for £40.
I rung them on Saturday but they told me they haven't yet received the delivery of W980s so better call on Monday, but I did ask them for an upgrade and the lady on the phone was willing to give me a C902i on £35 12Months contract with the same tariff of simplicity but since I was willing to go for W980 she left a note in my account of this conversation that I will be able to get the same 12months contract for W980i as soon as it arrives.
Now I rung them today and every thing went on smoothly but in the middle the supervisor arrived and he told me that "The person who promised you of this 12months contract for W980i will be contacting you soon himself/herself as we officially are not doing any 12month contracts any more".
So Daedalus85 what kind of response shall I expect from them? as, as far as I thought, they are not willing to give me this handset on 12months contract for £35. What shall i do if a negation comes from them?
Regards

Unfortunately, it is true, all O2 customers, wether new or upgrading, will now no longer be able to stay on 12 months. Even if you're on an old 12 month tariff, apparently you have to move to a new 18 month contract.
To be fair this isn't unusual, infact apart from T-Mobile and Virgin we were the only ones still offering 12 month contracts. Yes, it's a shame they've gotten rid of them, but thats the way the world works unfortunately.
Best bet is try haggling a very good discounted 18-month contract instead, or threaten them with requesting your PAC code. Mention to them you were promised a 12 month contract and you're not happy, and see where they go with it

Thanks for replying, would definitely let you know of the outcome tomorrow.
I Will insist them of the promise made and if they don't keep it I will ask to connect me to the cancellation department and would try my luck there but if they don't either, straight away I will ask them for PAC, because Voda is offering the same handset on a £30 12months contract but I am afraid not the same amount of mins and texts.

Im sorry but i find all networks disgusting if this is what they are now doing. Forcing customers to be stuck with them for longer than they want to be and not giving any choice in the matter. Its disgusting and pure greed on the networks side. Surely by 12 months they have at least made the money back from the FREE phone. I hate contracts.
