But its not good enough though. People sign upto contracts or buy these phones at quite high prices expecting quality but Sony Ericsson wont learn from building shoddy casings. Why? Dont they care? Much as i love Sony Ericsson they need to pull their socks up and change their sloppy ways and stop building Fisher Price toy like build on their phones.

Oh god, I tried one of these at a Vodafone store and the build is terrible. The combination of materials and its design make it feel like a bad prototype. The back in particular looks like crap, and the full length sideways sliding lens cover is a bit awkward in my opinion. Ugly phone in real life, even the blue on white colour scheme that I thought looked great in pictures looks terrible.
Ok, a little weird that I'm coming back into this thread after saying the above. The network I'm on has seemingly rather randomly decided to slash the price on this phone by quite a large amount, putting into the "very tempting" range. Now, I have to say that when I tried the phone out a month back, it was a dummy and not a working model. It had been smudged, dropped and beaten by many customers before I got to it. I have warmed to the design more after staring at pictures of it all afternoon and I think I'm going to go have a look at a working model tomorrow to get a final verdict.
If I decide it isn't as bad as my first impression, there is a chance I'll bite. So what I want to know is, what is the verdict on this phone? Does anybody at all on here even have one? What is the camera, GPS and build quality like? Thoughts?

Don't have one and haven't used one, but I felt a new and working model and it it really felt like a fisher price toy. So did the prototype i used in April. But that was only for some minutes, so I don't have any other info on it.

Yeah I understand the plastic used might be a bit hit or miss. Especially the red one. I'm going to head down to my local Vodafone store and ask for a demo.

Yeah, surprisingly it has had a few decent reviews. I've heard its screen is nice too.
So mostly people think it feels pretty cheap? What colours did you guys see? I personally don't like the red.

I don't think it's very popular. I had a look at a running white model and a dummy black one and was a bit more impressed than my first impressions, but the glossy plastic definitely lends a feeling of cheapness.
I won't be getting one now I don't think, as tempting as it's price-point is here in NZ at the moment.
