its nice to know that the US gets to sort out all the initial iphone/ipad problems before we get it
I have to say I'm definitly hooked and am now sure I'll be getting the wifi+3g version. I already have many ideas of how I'll using it around the house... in the bath... on the toilet... in bed... basically everywhere where I squint trying to use my iphone when I haven't got my glasses on me!
can't imagine using it on the train though, where I normally watch alot of video podcasts going to/from work. Mind you, having used mobile phones since mid 80's I said the same thing about them in those days and now look...!

Along with another 3G data plan?
The CEO of a new mobile network in NZ said that he expected up to 500% market penetration (5 connections for each user) and was laughed at by many people but when you consider iPad, iPhone (or other smartphone), laptop with 3G USB modem, a landline and an ADSL Broadband connection his statement is starting to look more reality than fantasy.

not sure yet. I'm seriously thinking of doing what alot of US people are doing and just get the wifi version and one of those mifi devices that generate a personal area hot spot around you from a 3g connection.
It will still require another sim, but:-
a) it will be a standard sim, not the smaller sim the iPad uses and so therefore the sim could be used in other devices
b) the simcard in the mifi hotspot will be usable by more than just a single device.

Is there a mifi app for the iPhone? If not then it might be a good app to create considering both Apple Macs and the Palm Pre can be used as a Mifi device as part of their standard feature set.
I think a dedicated Mifi device is unnecessary really. It's just waiting for an app to make it obselete.
