having had the Desire and Galaxy I couldn't justify keeping those while still having an iPhone but...
I really wanted to have an android phone as my backup and so now have a factory unlocked wildfire.
to be honest, I'm not at all dissapointed with it compared with the previous models.
Its fairly compact but still with HTC Sense and a good screen size and very responsive.
its running 2.1 update1 but there's no new firmware.
I thought Froyo was supposed to be officially available for the Wildfire by now?

Massy,
The Wildfire is my first Android im seriousley lovin it,
I guess its the right phone for me till the next time im due a new phone
which will be a hard decision im sure but im not looking at that till the time approaches
People keep critising the display,
but when you see what it can do you forget about the screen,
its a nice little phone ok its not the cheapest Android now but it's defo worth what
Bonovox has listed below if you can bear alltheat Vodafone branding
Ps, im also awaiting for the new update,
I keep being told its out soon but when exactley hmm

Had a little play with a mates Wildfire and I was pretty impressed... Keeps all the good Sense software stuff from the Desire just with lower specs but smaller form factor... And for the price its a winner!
Cant stand the name though, reminds me of back in the day and Orange's 'Wildfire' voicemail service!

Ordered one of these for my wife, bored of her Wave now, and wants another Android device. Everywhere I've looked this little handset gets glowing reviews! Think the only downsides she'll find will be camera quality (stills & video), and miss that lovely super amoled screen! Still, that aside, I think she is going to love Android 2.1 with Sense UI, her other Android device had been with an SE X10 Mini, which she liked, but hated the poor poor battery life. Just got to wait for the Wildfire to be delivered now, and will report back with thoughts on it

My other half got one, but sent it back. The screen quality just seems really bad, even for a budget model I thought they could have done a bit better.

Isn't the best screen, I'd not be happy with it, but my wife is ok with it. She doesn't use web alot, which seems to be where the resolution looks worst. Mainly calls, texts, email and a few apps use.

its not about the screen on the Wildfire,
if you put it asisde and see what it can do then thats the best thing about it
im not happy bout the screen but it's not that bad really!
if you have had a Super Amoled or Retina then of course your gunna call the wildfire a bag of weed,
otherwise if not then its a really nice phone!
I alos think HTC should of made the desire out of this it's Smaller and has much better keys to use
