check out these shots taken by Damian.. Lead designer on the Nokia N8
this first shot is taken at ISO 122 , 1/33 sec shutter
this next shot Damian raised the ISO all the way up to ISO 800, to get a faster shutter speed, and freeze the water
man, ISO 800 just seems very high for an outdoor daytime shot..
Upon fist inspection you dont see much noise, but when zooming in you can see a lot more noise compared to the ISO 122 shot.
but this higher ISO shot also appears to be a little darker than the ISO 122 shot.. i dont understand that..
1/309 sec shutter
what do you guys think of these shots?

I dont see much of a difference and i dont think they're very interesting pictures either - not something id take pictures of.
Having said that i prefer the second shot because the water has been frozen in time. I wouldnt have a problem with either picture though. As for noise, i would have thought you'd get more noise with faster shutter speeds as the software has less time to capture a more pure raw image. No ?
Regarding the noise, well if its there then its there, but to be honest if i took either of those pictures to print them off id be quite happy with either. I dont need to zoom in to the individual pixels to look for microscopic flaws. After all, this is a mobile phone taking these pictures, not a £4,000 DSLR.
@ jake20 - i think prior to buying the N8 you should try a Symbian phone, you said yourself you have never owned one before. Possibly owning a smartphone is not for you, they come with more problems even though ultimately they come with larger prizes over such a basic phone as the C905.
Maybe you should consider the Samsung Pixon 12 ?

@etaab,
well i have owned smartphones before.. I used to own a Moto Q a few years ago..
think i will just wait until the N8 releases and some reviews come in..
pre-ordering it is just a little too risky for me. i have too many questions right now.
thanks!

Thanks. Missed them before
I cropped some detail from the lower left corner from both photos of the water stream and put side-by-side for easy comparison of noise. Left-right = slow-fast:
I'd say the noise is acceptable but then again there seems to be plenty of light so the noise may become more disturbing in less well-lit scenes. The slow ISO shot seems a bit fuzzy. Probably from camera shake during the shot.
