> Official P800 order thread from SE E-Shop in US!

Latest e-mail from SE US e-shop to follow. I would buy from 3rd party right now but I do not want to buy a defective unit. If the delay were only due to customer demand then I would have bought a while ago. However, rumors abound about change in camera, change in stylus, recalls, ect. If SE were forthcomming with the reasons for the constant delays I could make a more informed decision. There appears to be no reliable communication between the manfacturer, SE itself, and their e-shop. It is frustrating to say the least.

Customer Contact Information
----------------------------
Just contacted customer support. They now say no release in US yet because there is no carrier in the US slated to pick up the phone. Aparently they do not feel capable of supporting the phones features on different networks through their tech support lines (kinda makes sense). Still doesn't explain the constant delays for direct sales though. Not sure how relaible this information is either because I have heard so many different stories. Still debating 3rd party purchase. I wish SE would come out with a formal statement re delays.

Wow, and I thought I was pissed off. I feel your pain. I've been using a t39m with a paperclip for an antenna since last August. I've been egged on and egged on to wait for this phone, "its just around the corner" kinda thing. Hell, I would have bought a T68 or T68i as an interim phone had I known it would take this long. So I sit and look at my little T39m and think to myself, 'SE lost out of a phone sale from me by their stupidity, no telling how many others they have lost as well'. No wonder why they are taking such big losses.
The phone is available online for a little more, I just want reassurances that I'm not buying a product that has an enhancement or fix about to be released. SE, is a simple press release to much to ask for?
____________
As for the e-mail - it came from sony e-shop.
As for rumors, they have come from posts on this board and on others. The recall rumor came from a post regarding samstores.com. I contacted them and the only response I received was that they were out of stock.

hey guys check out this site seriously. I just found out recently that they were selling p800s but I know it is a good site.
www.allglobaltk.com
It's not SE's fault that no wireless company is taking the P800 yet. It's an expensive fone!
Just go here and for 100 bucks more you can get it now and not have to wait forever.

1. do you have a p800 in stock?
2. what version of firmware?
3. is there a guarantee for future firmware upgrades?
4. was there a recall that you know of (I have only heard rummors re the camera)?
Thank you for your time and effort regarding this matter

Ze3eZ,
Here are the answers to your question:
1. At the moment I am all sold out in Dallas, Texas. But I have them waiting to be shipped from our warehouse in Sweden. 3-5 day shipping and next day air available.
2. The phone is R1D NEWEST!
3. No guarantee for future firmware. BUT Sony Ericsson does that for you for free!! So dont fall for people telling you free firmware for life/ its just a selling point that is actually free!
4. These are European phones not the USA release. There is NO recall on and P800 and that is confirmed from Sony Ericsson in Sweden were the phone is built.
Hope I can earn your business. And may I remind you that I only accept Credit Card payments from USA from Verified members and Confirmed addresses.
Thanks for your Business!

Thanks so much for the information. Four more questions if you have the time.
1. What is the difference between European and US releases of the phone? Just different manufacturers?
2. Do you know of a URL where I can locate a local (San Francisco), if there is one, Sony Ericsson service center for future flashes?
3. Do you have any knowledge why the US release keeps being pushed back? Rumors abound from change in camera to that no service provider in the US have picked up the phone.
4. Would you mind if I post your reply on message boards regarding the P800. I have found your prompt reply most helpful and I am definitely considering a purchase, specially since the release date has been pushed again to April. I know others would appreciate your insight and may look to you for purchase as well. I will however not post without your permission.
Again, thank you for your time and efforts regarding these questions.
Sincerely,
Z

Ze3eZ,
We at AllGlobaltk do not mind answering your questions. Ofcourse this is what we are hear for. I will answered you questions in the order you sent them to me as.
1. The first part of this answered is a little hard for me to answered. But as far as if it is different manufactures, this is defiantly NO. Sony Ericsson just like Nokia and other manufactures build there phones. The P800 is Made in Sweden from Sony Ericsson. As far as the difference between US and European release, from my experience with working with Mobile Phones there will not be a difference that is noticeable to the normal consumer. I believe this is just another episode of how the Nokia 7210 is being released in North America. The delivered to T-Mobile ready to sell when Nokia told them to take them off shelves and return them all. What I got from T-Mobile and Nokia was that there was a problem with the phone recognizing T-Mobile towers. This is normal because the phones are programmed to work better with the service provider they used, and ofcourse they are locked and software is setup with the provider.
2. The way we located our 3 service centers in Dallas, Texas was we called Sony Ericsson and told them we have a few phones that we would like to service but we do not want to send them in. They will give you a service center around you to wear they can work on it. Have them give you atleast 3 numbers because some of them may not warranty certain phone such as a PDA/Phone like the P800. But most of them will.
3. There are a few reasons why the phone has not yet been released in USA yet. A few them are facts and others are speculations on what I know from the wireless industry. One speculation is that because the phone is so expensive they want to make sure that the phone is bug free. The USA is not a market that spends 700USD on a mobile phone so they want to make sure that the phone is solid. I work with a store here in Dallas that carries the Sony Ericsson P800. I went in to visit with him after I had sold him 20 P800's and he laughed and said that he had sold them all. I was shocked when I knew his price was 1200 for the P800. And this is a few weeks ago not months ago. And I said there is something weird about that who did you sell them to. He told me that a few Sony Ericsson REPS. came in and bought 15 of them. I said ok there can only be one thing that they want to take them off the shelves because there is a big recall. Well that was not the case. The thing is that there was a show in Louisiana and they needed the phones immediately so they can show them at a technology convention to some companies. My speculation is that the phones are not fully manufactured for the USA market yet. Otherwise why would they come and pay so much for the P800. As far as the Service Provider goes. Sony Ericsson has been known to release a GSM phone before a service provider is definite. The T68 was released years ago before a provider was present than Voice Stream at the time took it. Another thing I know from business itself is that all these people that are inquiring about the P800 and are pre-ordering it. I know this for a fact that these large companies do this on purpose to see how the market feel is and how popular the phone will be before it is released. And for example if they get 1000 Pre-Orders they can go to AT&T and use this as a selling point for them to be a provider for the P800. If you catch my drift you can understand there are multiple reasons for the release delay. After all this is not a first for any company including Nokia/Sony Ericsson/ Samsung. The V205 was delayed 4 months and that is a T-Mobile only phone. As far as the camera I am not sure and cannot comment on that but I will be talking to a Sony Ericsson REP later this week and can maybe get back to you on a word. But this DOES NOT make sense for them to change the camera on it when it is released to 85% of the world and there going to change it know after it is almost fully released. You will have allot of pissed off Sony Ericsson Fans in many countries.
4. I do not mind if you post my reply on a Board as long as you put were the e-mail is from. Any information provided, AllGlobaltk is not responsible for any changes in SE's decisions. I hope to earn your business. If I can be in any further assistance to you please do not hesitate to contact me.
