Yes that definitely made the deal easier for me. I had my mind set on the Z1 but due to the incosistency in performance, I was inclined to get the Note 3 instead, but now when I read this, I won't even consider it anymore.
That's so stupid

The region lock is really not a problem : http://www.sammobile.com/2013[....]-its-not-as-bad-as-we-thought/

Definitely not as bad as we thought however Samsung should have given notice of this and explained further. Instead it left others to speculate as to what this new regional locking was about and caused a whole heap fears.

Note 3 easily tops a score set recently by an also-ran

Would like to see how the Exynos Note 3 performs though with that new GPU.

It is for plenty of people.

Im from Australia, and certain handsets (the Note series a prime example) can be either purchased substantially cheaper when bought overseas, ie, Europe, or they are released before our market down under . A lot of aussies buy from Handtec, Clove etc.

Now, without a UK/EU sim, how is an aussie buyer meant to activate their phone? Its a PITA to be brutally honest, I expect this kind of thing from Apple. The restriction is ridiculous and shouldn't be there, period!

Sure there are ways around it, the obvious one being buy a UK/Euro sim or have the retailer include one. That is massive inconvenience, and one I shouldn't have to worry about when buying an UNLOCKED phone.

No screen lotteries here every single unit comes with the same excellent display:

Galaxy Note 3 display considerably better than Note II’s, on par with the best LCD displays

Are you sure?
Just because nobody said anything bad about the screen doesn't mean that there isn't any kind of screen lottery. You know, Schrodinger's cat paradox ;P

No, not trying to start a war. The war is already on for a long time

Not really, Samsung make their own screens using a much higher quality process than other companies. They don't need to buy screens from three or more suppliers to meet even a low demand.
