There will be another hardware race in running LLM models (AI) natively on the phone. I'm not talking about stuff you can do already. I'm talking about having an option of running most of your phone functions via voice or text prompts.
I hope Sony catches on to this wave with the right partnership.

Supposedly there are talks of a new high end model being in the works, but that remains to be seen. It is possible the A series could be discontinued. But trying to add the audio components of even the A series to an xperia would be challenging, especially with the thickness, isolating any wireless interference and the added extra cost of any audio specific components. There is limited room in smartphones and I can't see Sony adding anything even from the A into an xperia 1 flagship.
edit, any reason why the password reset doesn't work on here? likewise, can't even register for a new account.

I heard that Sony is now cutting down on making cheap devices. From Alpha to Walkman and Bravia. Some said Xperia are planned to take over those low price segment for Walkman and Alpha
Seems like battery capacity doesnt get upgraded, but runtime is slightly better

Sony themselves said in an interview that they would be minimizing their wireless audio segment, simplifying it and cutting models. And to an extent, we have seen that, as certain models have been already cut and no longer replaced. I suspect the A series will be cut, with perhaps just the ZX and WM line remaining. It makes sense, competing in the low segment is not easy.

Nice! So meaning it will likely have same display as the 1VI but go brighter, same battery capacity but manufactured more thin if rumors were true (hope they design their best cooling system), then have all Alpha Bravia and Walkman into 1 device. SUPER GREAT!!!! Hope this phone performs well at all these 3 segments plus all other features then it will be a killer.
Also, hope speakers do well despite this casing rumour below:

"but the Xperia 1 VII case does not have a cutout for the front speaker." (Hmmm... display surface acoustic??

Thank you for addressing this, spektykles.
I think that the technology is still too early to have proper AI features run natively on the phone. Most of AI features are still cloud-based. But I am interested in seeing what kind of AI advancements Sony will offer in this phone. Keep us posted

Perhaps it will be an algorithm trained through AI, just like the voice call noise cancellation was trained through AI. Maybe the photo algorithm will also make use of AI training for better photos. Remains to be seen.

I am just happy there will be a new phone this year and it sounds like they are bringing back 4K. I will be a little sad if it's not 21:9 ratio though because watching shows on my phone with no black bars anywhere and stereo speakers is an amazing experience.
AI will probably follow what the other manufacturers are doing. A personalized AI assistant button or shortcut or added AI processing for various features. I wouldn't expect a full AI on board since technology isn't quite there yet.
April is basically here so hopefully we can see some photo leaks and more concrete information soon.
what are the go to unlocked phone sellers in the UK these days? That's where I usually import my phones from.
