Xperia really shines in manual mode. The pictures are significantly better than the iphone.

Yesterday morning, a day late because it was loaded onto the return flight when it arrived at its destination two days ago, the Xperia 1 VIII arrived in my hands. The black version features 12GB RAM and 512GB ROM. I really like the new square camera design, as well as the new body finish. As soon as I turned it on, it immediately detected the first firmware update. I reset my Google account settings, then performed the firmware update and rebooted. Then I restored the 15GB of my WhatsApp account. Funny thing, the firmware update didn't update Google Play (which had been frozen since January!!!!! How strange...), which I did manually afterward.

Congrats!
Mine has arrived to Buyee warehouse, but it won´t be shipped until the end of next week. I have contacted their support for a request of what they should write on the customs declaration package description. The description last year wasn´t sufficient for Swedish customs.
This will take 2-3 business days for them before they can ship the phone.

One thing that's beyond doubt is that the telephoto lens is now excellent, even though it's lost its zoom capability and its maximum extension has been reduced to "just" 140mm due to the crop of the large new sensor. But at least now it's as usable as the other two lenses, whereas before on the Mark 7 it suffered a bit in less than optimal lighting conditions, especially at its maximum extension.

Yes. Based on the reviews I've seen on youtube, the telephoto has improved a lot. Of course, anything is a huge upgrade for me coming from a 1ii. haha.

The official case has arrived at the Zenmarket warehouse, and I've arranged for it to be shipped to Rome. I had another official case purchased by a dear friend of mine in London (the only European store where it was still available), and she'll then ship it to me.

This case that I received today will do until I get the Sony original, since there is no Spigen.
Have ordered a couple of other cases too.
