Well I don't care if you think I'm just saying this or not, but the review still hasn't whet my appetite to buy one!!

Stylus
"On the other hand, it is too light and it is not very convenient to use it. "

Camera
"A small mirror to take pictures of yourself is located under the camera"

WHAT!!!!!! Have you seen the size of the f***ing mirror!!! Have we had our heads shrunk by some african tribesmen, or are we all so long-sighted we'll have to be that close! This IS a joke isn't it!!!!!

Battery
"Few words about the battery. The handset is equipped with BST-15, the same as it was in P800. Operating time was not changed considerably, though the screen was improved. On average the phone operates about 2 days in case of 30 minutes of talking and up to 35-45 minutes of using other functions. If you constantly use bluetooth, operating time will reduce to one day. Total time of re-charging is a little bit longer than 2 hours."

So, er, no change then!

Screen
"The screen has a resolution of 208õ320 pixels 42*64 mm) and supports up to 65K. Visble part of the screen in the closed mode will be 208õ208 pixels. The phone has a high screen quality. It is not so good in sunlight but the information is quite understandable. Taking into account that the screen is placed deep into the phone, it seems to be very large. I think that the display can be compare with the screens of Nokia 6600 and Siemens SX1 in terms of picture quality"

So LET'S BE ALL HONEST HERE AND NOT BIASED!!, The 6600 and SX1's screens are NOT REALLY THAT GOOD!!!!!!!

Memory
"Unfortunately, P900 has 16 Mb memory pool. It would be much better if developers could integrate larger pool. On the other hand, MSDuo slot is available and partly solves the memory problem."

So nothing new here either!

Contacts
"Contacts. Great changes were not appeared here. "

Right, well that's a good start huh!

Music
"Music Player. The main advantage of the player is that it allows creating playback lists, repeat compositions, move from one to another. So, it is a typical mp3 player."

OK, well that's the first browny point it's received! Er, I'll stick to my MP3 player though

Extras
"Menu themes are the other strong point of the phone. "

This is the ONLY good point I can see, but even so, it's limited!

Verdict
I'll wait........

Yup. ill be buying one. like with the p800, the temptation is too much for me!

Ya, I dunno. If anything the review did the opposite for me and convinced me that there was nothing that was a really necessary upgrade for me.

Sure, the video camera is nice, and the asthetic design of the phone is a bit improved, but it's not worth the hundreds of dollars it would cost to upgrade, even if I sell off the old phone.

I think I'll skip the P900 and wait for the next model in the summer of 2004 as the author claims. For now, the 800 is working just fine for me.

I too feel less likely to buy a P900 after reading that review. I was set on buying one before now, mainly for the smaller size, but now I think that that would be somewhat frivilous.

Perhaps I'll wait for the P1000 or whatever it'll be called.

mirror

@jmh
quite the amateur
16mb internal memory is quite a difference from the 12mb
screen got a lot better
UIQ2.1 (and if u say it's not big deal, then ur just being ignorant)
profiles
mp3 ringtones
improved handwritting recognition
T9
this is just to name a few

it's easy to bash a phone when u dont exactly know what's on it and believe anything posted by P900 haters...

but w/e, the less ppl that buy the P900, the better for me, cuz then I feel my phone being more unique

Surely based on experience of the P800 and the hype and continual wait surrounding P900 (which I don't think has even been officially announced yet), the new model which is supposedly arriving in Summer 2004 will actually arrive about Spring 2005. So I'll get a P900 for a year first, subject to prices in the UK not being too ridiculous.

16mb internal memory: 4mb more ram is nothing - why didn't they go to 64mb or something?
screen: yeah, this is nice
UIQ2.1: so what
profiles: nice if you use it. I don't
mp3 ringtones: don't see the point
improved handwritting recognition: P800's version is pretty much perfect for me anyway
T9: wouldn't use it

Featurewise, it's a minimal upgrade. The real benefit is the smaller size, particularly the thickness. The P900 looks svelte, the P800 is "chunky" to say the least
