I am very happy with XDA2, but I called O2 again today and they said that I can not unblock mine, If I can not ublock the thing then I will have to give it back.

sorry if i wander off topic again but psikey, what does "monitors multiple GPRS connections" mean? the xda connects to more than one gprs channel-thingie at once?

my girlfriend is pretty sworn in to the mda, i guess i'm tempted to get her the mdaII if she gets me the p900

she never goes online with it, but i've managed to spend a couple of bucks on gprs, even with the t68i alone. i wish there was gprs-flat-rate. i believe it would encourage a lot of users to go online. so far, nobody i know does gprs (wap/web/email).

The XDA2 comes preconfigured with 2 GPRS protocols MOBILE WEB GPRS for internet & email & WAP GPRS for WAP and the O2 Activr thing. It selects the profile dependant on what you are doing but can only be on one protocol at a time. The Spb GPRS monitor software can be setup to auto detect the switching and monitor both for total data usage. Only been playing a bit with GPRS and already upto 1MB (£3)
Bring on flat rate !!

I'm facing quite a difficult decision! Expansys has the XDAII at a much lower price than the P900. Functionality-wise it can do ALOT more and gives more flexibility. The only thing im concerned with is it's slightly large size relative to the P900 and how I would look with a PDA to my head making a call. So is it possible to use XDAII in the car...in other words is one handed operation possible? As someone mentioned before....my HEART says P900 but my MIND says XDAII, that's exactly how I feel. I love the way the P900 looks, but I think the XDAII would be much more functional.

Can anyone comment on the quality of MP4 videos recorded with the XDAII relative to the P900? Better? Worse? About the same? How do you find the size of the unit? Pocketable/convenient?

XDA 2 is £550 at Expansys,
P900 is £400ish elswhere if you take on a high contract then drop down to a low tariff, don't take notice of Expansys stupid P900 price.

Yes, I realize expansys is a bit overpriced in everything, but right now it has the best price for the P900 for me since I'm in the US and getting the phone with a UK plan is not an option. Mphone I noticed has the P900 at 510 pounds, which is about the same...so it's all around the 500 pound/$850 range. I don't think it's going to come down anytime soon considering the demand. I'm wondering why isn't there as much demand for the XDAII as there is for the P900? Is there something I'm missing? It can do more and gives more flexibility at a lower price(for me at least), the only thing you lose is size/form or the cool look that the P900 has.

Sorry i had made an assumption that you were here in UK, i think the problem is the XDA2 is still a PDA with a phone. whereas the P900 is a Phone with a PDA included (i know its been said loads but its the best quote on the subject)

Aftter that its the "Size/shape" thing.

I have a P900 coming tomorrow which could be sold on for £490, but it will be locked to Orange. if it sells i will just buy another (i'm having to buy on contract & mess about with changing the deal at a later point so hence the bit of profit.

The reason you probably here more about the P900 (especially on here) is because this is mainly a SE forum. I am generally a Symbian OS fan (hence SE phones) & while waiting for the P900 like everyone else, I read on this forum about XDA2 (didn't know about it prior to that) phoned about availability & told it came out in shops that day. Did a quick web search for info, played with it in shop & bought it there and then (impulse buy). Still happy with the choice.

The video recording on XDA2 is excellent (IMO) and at full screen 320x240 and all video playback is awesome (you could say DVD quality on a 320x240 screen depending on clip quality). Think I read that P900 only records small video clips (can't remember size). Consider that you can now put a 1GB SD card in it (if you can afford one) using it to watch ripped DVD movies is a reality.

But in general, I don't see the level of interest I see for the P900, not just on this board but all over the net. I think it's because the P900 looks cooler(and it definitely does!) and as the saying goes "it's a superficial world". The XDAII definitely can do more, but I still yearn for a P900! I can't seem to make up my mind. If I were rich, I'd get both and there wouldn't be an issue but I have a budget!

How is it in terms of size? Do you feel comfortable making calls with it? Is it pocketable(in jeans for example)? To answer your comment on the P900 having limited recording capability, as far as time is concerned, there is no limit(as much as the memory card can hold which is about 2 hours on a 128mb card i have read). Is it the same for the XDAII? Can you record on an SD card? You can also watch ripped DVD's on a P900 by the way. After you rip a DVD and convert the files to MP4, it should be about 90 mb for an hour and a half long movie which would fit on a 128mb duo stick. I wasn't too satisfied with the quality of videos recorded with the P900.

I love SE's products, especially the P800/P900. But I'm definitely not a symbian fan for the reason that you don't get the same flexibility that you would with Palm/Pocket PC as far as software is concerned. Another big issue I have with the P800/P900 is the use of the memory stick duo, I mean 128 mb limit? Are they kidding? As much as I love the P900 this is what I think is the main thing preventing me from buying it...the 128mb cap!

But then again the XDAII is a bit big and heavy!! Let me know how you are with it in terms of size.

I think I know what I want.... I want a P900 with Pocket PC/Palm OS and SD card support .
