correction: i observed that infalted egos are a nasty habit. On all sides. I noted one inflated ego on portuguese side on the board and I (harshly) voiced my opinion. do not twist my words to be anti-portugal because they are not. Nor are they pro england, I think the whole discussion from both sides is rather pathetic.

I wish suporters/fans/hooligans would be able to act more mature on a phones forum of all places but it is crystal clear to me that it is not going to happen.

Unfortunately, it is situations like this, the senseless slagging, the useless slogans, that make football such a horrible event for people like me, people who come to enjoy the game and go home happy if the 'show' was good, even if 'we' did not win.

On to the next game!

Actually, i dont mind losing. England lost, its their own fault, we cant complain. I dont feel bad about it at all, just a little disappointed at how poorly England played, and how poor the referee judged the whole match (didnt that Portugal shot cross the line earlier in the match but the ref said 'play on' ?)

But what i do mind is people like you who say England are crap at football. If the tables were turned, i wouldnt be saying Portugal are crap because they arent, id be saying well done England, and well done Portugal.

Mate, i dont say your defence is bad to annoy you...its my opinion. But cole is awesome! Remember france is playing very bad, even the swiss managed to face them most of the game (i was there in the match) This message was posted from a T610

Hmmmm, it seems that football can generate as much of an argument.... sorry, debate, as the threads about war and religion do.

I saw the game, it was dissapointing to say the least (I'm trying to avoid the word 'gutted' as I'm going to hear that plenty of times over the next few days!!), but a lot of people have lost sight of the fact that it's a game. A damned competitive and entertaining game, granted, but apart from some ribbing by the odd small- minded Portugese/Scottish/Welsh etc. person nearby, our lives are not going to become any worse or harder to bear! No one's going to come and take our nice shiny phones away just because we lost a match (on penalties at that) for example!!

Now, how long before the conspiracy theories about that dissalowed goal, the dodgy penalty spot, penalty shootouts, etc. start? Or have they already?

Now I hear some rumblings about Beckham either stepping down from or being removed from being England captain? Where's everyone's sense of proportion??

Everytime a team lose a game, or for example in the UK news someone goofs up (the Chief of Police down in Cambridgshire in charge of the Soham murders), people start calling for them to resign.

Its stupid. I dont think Beckham or Sven will step down.. i dont see why they should. Its the same with the police chief, if he steps down, will it bring Holly and Jessica back ? 'fraid not.

Exactly. Moaning about disallowed goals or booting Sven out won't put us back in Euro 2004 or anything. It seems people need someone to blame, and if they're sacked, like this Humberside police chief, then all's rosy in the world and nothing will go wrong again!

Anyway, I think I'm straying off topic, sorry!!

No, its using the (Humberside not Cambridgshire) police chiefs case as a relevant example of how the media treat their stories.

Last night i was disappointed yes and i still am, but life does go on; i learnt that when my best friend died at the start of the year, so losing a football match is no big deal. Besides, today i have a new K700 to cheer me up

If Sven were to leave the job of England manager, i think it would be to join a club team like Chelsea which wouldnt be great for England, would be for whichever team got him.
