well the only way is to use
E-messenger from opera or internal browser and then selecting the light version cos I cant seem to be getting the mobile and wap ones to work (on the internal browser).I get a message saying 'the page contains problems and cannot be displayed' or something of that sort.

But why not? I don't understand why I can access full HTML internet on my p800 for free, but cannot use a messenger. I would have thought that these messengers are simply not able to send or receive on the port 8080 (as in they are set at 9201 or whatever)... I'm going to email TipicME's team and ask whether there is any way to do this, and if so, if they could share it with me and I'll post the settings here when I find out.
Wish me luck...

thats the point exactly the instant messengers have specifically assigned ports which they use for communications but with this GPRS those ports and the pop3/IMAP ports (except for o2) have been disabled.full html is still provided.I dont think emailing TiPicME will be beneficial you would be better off talking to o2 (for 50p per min

).if tipicme can help then let us all know.

Will do. I'll see what I can do, but I see your point now on the whole ports blocked thing. However, is there any chance we can set a messenger to use port 8080?? If so, that would mean free msn/icq etc right?

yep that would mean free instant messenger which would be fantastic but the problem is getting them to work via 8080.oh well we will have to wait now until anybody has further information or can actually do it.If you know how to make this a possibility then post post post

Good Luck! I used an O2 Online Sim though, so the Genie SIM might not work... p800 is definitely supportive though.
Oh and if anyone can tell me why my p800 is rejecting cookies please do. I am using these settings and can't log in to esato or anything!!!
