Itīs shipped with a 32 Mb MMC.(You can buy MMC:s with capasity up to 128Mb for about 100 euro)
Does anybody know if the 128 Mb MMC works properly with the included MMC reader?

Ok you can get the crack here:
http://www.dr-high.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Files/DietMP3crack.exe
It only works for version: DietMP3 v3.00.03 which should be the latest one on their site.

are MMC and SD truly interchangeable?
and if they are, some slight modification to the opening of the hpm-10 might make a SD fit, ok so its a long shot but, if they read and write the same way and the pins of the hpm-10 stick up enough to go thru the fins of the SD to make contact....
ok so now that I have written this idea down it sounds a little more silly than I once thought.

you can fit in an mmc to an sd slot but not vice versa. you cannot put sd cards to an mmc slot.

They are interchangeable in that they devices (MP3, Digicamera etc) that support SD will support MMC card. The problem is that the SD card is slightly thicker (for a start) and so physically wont fit in any device that is made to support MMC only.
I broke my MMC reader that came with the MP3 player by trying to put an SD card in the reader. I have a neat solution for repairing the reader it if anyone wants it (involves bluetack and a paper clip)

Well to get this thing working under XP, it is complicated.
You can not format a new card under XP to use on this.
You have to install the program under 98/ME/NT/2000 and use the format program that comes with the utility to set up the file system properly. Under XP it does some kind of special XP fat file system.
If you use a card formated under XP using the operating system file system instead of using the format utility installed by the setup program you get a file system error.
All files are available at the ftp...
ftp://ftp.scmmicro.com/dm/drivers/
The XP drivers are at
ftp://ftp.scmmicro.com/dm/drivers/PPMMC%20WinXP%20BETA%20driver.zip
You can install the system device using add new hardware and pointing to the location of the 2 files in the zip.
ftp://ftp.scmmicro.com/dm/drivers/Ppmmc.zip
That is V3 of the MMC control program. Does not work under XP. But you only need that if you want to format a new card. There is a MP3 file system and a DOS file system. The MP3 file system is used by special MP3 jukeboxes so don't use that.
