The connector should be located in: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\MyPhoneExplorer\\DLL\\mpe_gadget_connector.dll

Its a normal ActiveX-DLL. On a 32bit-System its enought to register it with regsvr32.exe. The strange thing is that there are many other DLLs which also has to be registred and they are all working.

I figured it out zillertaler! When you install my phone explorer, it installs the gadget and loads the sidebar using the 32 bit sidebar gadget. It works fine under the 32 bit sidebar gadget since all the files are registered using the 32 bit version. Once you reboot, vista automatically loads the 64 bit sidebar gadget. Guess what, my phone explorer did not load the sidebar gadget in the 64 bit version. (32 bit version of sidebar is in c:\program files (x86)\windows sidebar and 64 bit version is at c:\program files\windows sidebar)
32 and 64 sidebar has two different gadget folders. Your program apparently only installs it on the 32 bit side. All my other gadgets register on both sides. So, what i want to try to do is manually put the gadget in the 64 bit side and register all the files that the gadget needs to run. Worth a shot! Does this make any sense? I know you don't have a 64 bit system, so i hope you understand this.

edit: I tried registering all the files i found, but it did not work. So, in the meantime. I disabled the sidebar from loading in it's preferences and manually told windows to load the 32 bit sidebar instead. (pasted a shortcut to the 32 bit version in the startup folder). That worked! I now have full access to the sidebar gadget after restarting!
Thats what i get for having a 64 bit system with 4 gig of memory!

It would be no problem to copy the gadgetfiles to both locations, but you told that this is also not working.

But if the workaround with the 32bit-Sidebar works then i think its OK. Where is the 32bit-Sidebar located and which filename does it have ?

Very thanks for your help

The 32 bit sidebar is located at c:\\program files (x86)\\windows sidebar\\sidebar.exe

Windows just loads the 64 bit sidebar by default upon boot. (located in c:\\program files\\windows sidebar\\sidebar.exe

Oh well. All is well now.

Cool gadget, finally something actually useful for the sidebar! Loving it.

btw, not sure if you've specifically tested MPE with W910, but I can confirm it works flawlessly (I use multi-sync with outlook, file transfer, smsing)

Finally i'm ready with MyPhoneExplorer 1.7. There are alot of changes in background - especially for Symbian-Compatibility. The changes:
full compatibility to UIQ3-Phones (P990i, P1i, M600i, W950i, W960i, G700, G900)
read/write access to notes on the phone
SMS-Chatfeature
universal filesync with filteroptions
its now possible to add exceptions in ruled events
its possible to create a backup also if the phone is not connected (Offlinebackup)
besides this there were alot of other changes and bugfixes which do not have enought space here

Download as always on my homepage www.fjsoft.at

Nice!

Esp. the notes synch, I've very pleased about that since I've been using SE Phone Suite only for notes synch. Now I can drop it completely.

Thanks for that, @zillertaler. And thanks, max, for mentioning the part about syncing notes, or I'd have missed it. I've not used the SE PC Suite ever since I started using MPE. It's such a great program. Thanks, zillertaler!
