But Nokia 1020 has blurry corners and noise and muddy details it's total crap for a Pure view.

every video sample i see, i get more and more impressed. by far (imo) it blows anything else out of the water in terms of video quality (colors, focus, focus speed, transition speed, and stability). i checked out samples from the HTC one and S4 on youtube just to make sure i wasn't just in fanboy mode and drooling cause it's the Z1. But after a few videos of each, it was clear that the Z1 is in a league of its own when it comes to video.

even without OIS, it uses steady shot, and does a HELL of a lot better than anybody else with OIS. that "hovering" effect that comes from the steadyshot is unreal.

Optical or Hardware Image Stabilisation would only make things better. Especially in low-light. Its a real shame Sony didn't include this. Yeah Steadyshot does a good job, but imagine if it had been combined with hardware image stabilisation.

I found this : Camera comparison: how do the Sony Xperia Z1 and LG G2 fare against the competition?

@XYZ of course it could be better. but as it is, it's blowing away the competition. don't know if OIS or some type of HIS requires more space, but if so, they made the right choice or right gamble and trusted their steadyshot tech.

gives us something to look forward to eh?

Sony have to be able to spoil us with something for the next iteration.

@davidsic - interesting find and decent comparison, albeit far from scientific. the mere fact that the furbys weren't in the frame the same throughout just gives the whole comparison a little less credibility. you can see clearly in the Z1 photo that the middle furby is in focus. heh. but still, they found the Z1 to be the winner. no doubt it's proto software too which is a great confidence booster for what's to come in future updates

hey McKinley.. i think i'm gonna take the jump. Tmobile with an order from Clove..

does not seem very credible. the site says sony has optical image stabilization.

The Sony Xperia Z1 is the winner here. Despite the 8-megapixel resolution, Sony's optical image stabilisation keeps things clean, with noise reduction taking the edge off the grain. Nokia's Lumia 925 comes in second. It's a tad noisier than some of the others, but zooming in results in a sharper, less dappled shot.

Sorry for straying away from the camera topic.

How oleophobic is the screen and back? Is it any better than Z? And is there any point in trying to apply my own oleophobic coating?

Also wondering wether any of you know of a flipcover, or something alike, that can be used while docking in the DK31?
