wtf ?
just tried updating on SEUS like I allways do with my K700, never had any problems before, and now all of the sudden I get
---------
Your device is not permitted to use this service
Your operator does not approve the usage of this service for this device.
We look forward to assist you again soon.
Thank you for using Sony Ericsson Update Service!
----------
what is this crap, I have a completely unbranded K700 with no operatorbindings at all, and have updated a number of times in the past with no problems, latest just a week ago.
How incredibly annoying, arghhhhh

@ numb
I have the same problem SE told me that my operator in sweden (TELIASONERA) must approve the new firmware which is R2AY in sweden.

Thats crap - my current operator is TeleDanmark (Denmark) - but since Im using an unbranded phone why should they interfere with my choise of updating. This means that SEUS looks at which operator your current SIM is using and desides if youre allowed to update according to that, which is really dumb. Has nothing to do with the operator, its my phone, not the operators. I can put in any SIM from any operator I want. Updating is a business between me and S//E, not the fricking operator I currently use. What do I care if my current operator has approved of the update or not, its my bussines if I want to update, not theirs. Setting SEUS to check for operator on a non branded handset is so stupid of S//E. Its a piece of hardware I bought from S//E, not a service provided by an operator. My free choise of operator should have no influence on my ability to update the hardware I bought from S//E.
I know some of my friends got theirs updated to R2AY using SEUS, I could ask them which operator they are on, possibly borrow their SIM and do the update, then switch back to my own SIM again.
But I shouldent have to do things like that to get my free unbranded phone updated. I have to say, at the moment I am extremely annoyed by the fools at S//E tech, with the way they are handling firmwareupdates at the moment, both in regards to my K700 and my K750, and with the totally idiotic useles socalled helpdesk which can do nothing but spew out standard replys.
arrrghhh.....

Numb calm down. SEUS does this from time to time and it tends to be when SE are updating their service. As some people are able to upgrade to R2AY004 then it seems SE are rolling this out across their global infrastructure so please be patient.
Just before they rolled out R2AE033 I was getting a similar message even though my phone was unbranded but then after a few days it just worked. Bare with them and it will work soon.

yeah yeah yeah, my midllename is patience, so Ill bare with them for now
In the department I run, if people deal incomepetent with their work, they have to report to my ofice and Ill slap them over the wrist
I might even take away some of their many benefits. If youve done really bad you are forced to handover your S//E phone and use a Nokia for a week. That usually works

well, my phone now also got updated with no problems....... except after the update it now just flashes with a white screen when you turn it on.
Recovery mode doesnt work, so basically Im screwed, once again.
Now have to sent it to a service centre for repair which takes not less than 4 weeks.
who was it that told me to calm down ??
Beleive me calm is far from what I am feeling for these no good twats at S//E at the moment.
I had an appointment tonight with someone to swap this K700 for an S700, and would just deliver the phone with the latest update, now this deal wont happen.
And I am really pissed of !!!
