@doministry i know, i was in your position when i got the phone, but i had to surrender to be able to use it. it's the price we will have to pay... another acount again!

But you confirm: when I go abroad I will also have to connect to internet to use Calendar?

I tried putting the phone in airplane mode (i.e., no internet or mobile signal) and calendar came up for me. of course, I have a google account. If i remember, when i update to 2.1 (if it ever gets here for me!) i'll see if i can use calendar without putting in an account.

Thank you.

Well my phone is just upgraded to 2.1 and it still asks the same thing.
But maybe it just needs to login once and than it just works without connectng.

It somehow funny you guys don't know what your device is doing...........

X10 seems a very nice device.

yea. once you login, it shouldn't need internet access unless you set it to sync to your calendars and you can set that to NEVER.

But.. when i update i'll test all that and report back.

I can confirm that the phone does not load calendar until it can verify google account when you insert new sim. So internet access is required for you foreign sim or you will be somewhat limited going abroad. This applies even when sync is turned off. New sim also prompts confirmation of google password. Does anyone know a nice calendar app that is not linked to an account.

After over a week I decided to email unlocking.com with my frustration. I threatened I would ask for a refund from Paypal if they did not deliver as promised after 7 full days.

Came home and saw a refund was enacted by them today. I got no reply from my email, no refund explanation. No apology, nothing.

I am at a point now where I think I may very well find an AT&T customer and resell it the same as I got it. Anyone want this for $319? I am royally disappointed at this stage. I sort of blamed myself but I thought the ray of hope I saw re: unlocking these was enough but sadly it seems I made a mistake.

My HTC Aria was unlocked in NO TIME...why is this phone so hard to unlock? My return to seems to be closer to being short lived. I don't know what else to do besides return to the previous site I pematurely canceled on and try again. I visited XDA-Developers and I messaged the user on the site who seemed to have been helping for a fee but no reply.

So that's one Xperia X10a from AT&T brand new...unuseable. So now maybe I need to tough it ought with a Motorola DEFY (now that's a neat phone), or muscle it out and go HTC Desire or Samsung Captivate (do I really need to buy another branded phone?).

People may ask why do I keep buying branded phones...some of the Android models support European 3G. I live in Jamaica and we use US 3G bands...granted my primary network doesn't offer 3G but my secondary one does...just thought it would be cool to have the option. Plus...buying the AT&T locked ones usually work out cheaper (even with purchasing unlock codes) than buying the International versions.

*SIGH*

I was told there are times when the consumer can call the operator and request an unlock code? How easy do they give that up? But I can't call personally being from Jamaica, and no AT&T account to discuss.

Is there anyone who can assist me in this regard?

Maybe he can help you or at least send you in the right direction.

@JAGUY85, in my experience, operators must unlock a phone for free when the contract period is over. Thatīs one of the reasons I NEVER sign contracts for more than 12 months. I got my X10 for 9 euros, paying in total 280 euros for phone, calls and internet in 12 months, an unlocked X10 would have cost me about 350 euros without a contract. If I get a phone that cheap with a contract , Iīm not gonna complain about them locking it. Itīs part of the deal.
