Are you still using AVG ? I've known AVG to block the com port of

phones. Used to have problems with the P series and some A200 platform phones back when I used AVG and NIS also. Had to disable them for however long it took to do what I needed and then reenable to stay protected.
EDIT
What happened to your Desire ?? Did you not Desire it anymore ?

I have no idea what alternative I can use for downloading this update. I tried WI Fi it never worked either. May try on my brothers pc see if that works. Does Davinci require you to turn the phone off too for the update?? That's where the problem is when it's off I plug it in & Windows makes an annoying short trumpet sound & driver not found message pops up

You turn the phone off. Wait 30secs. Then hold down the Back button and plug in the USB cable.
Have a look in your device manager to see if there was a problem with the installation. Also. When the phone is on and your pugging a usb cable in. You need to unmount the SD card via the drop down menu so pc companion works.
One phone I certainly wont be selling is my X10 or my Mini Pro. They're staying with me
Get yourself Poweramp from the Android market. Its much better than mediascape music player and you can make playlists on the phone instead of using Media Go. Loads of preset EQ's and a manual amp setting. Sounds much better via my DS205 with HPM-66 headphones and also via my cars bluetooth connection. Only £3.19 as well

OK will look now. I have never had a problem with updating before but this happened with the x8 aswell which leads me to think that it could be something on my pc

When I was let down by the over rated HTC Desire HD I could not think of anything else I really wanted & came back to

Only thing I really hate is the call volume but it's not too bad. I shall look at that App then sounds good Media Scape is not too great imo. I woke up one morning when I last had the x10 & all my album art had vanished

The Desire HD had many many bad points for such an expensive phone a real let down

Photaf 3D Panaromic. Not a bad app at all.Havent done much experimenting but heres a shot of I think it was 3 or 4 shots.
The key is to set it to Automatic, move the phone sideways and let the app tell you when to take the shot. Will try take a full 360 Panaromic today.(how the hell is that going to fit on this page is another story)
