...you should realize that it is important for a company to focus on all ends of the market, which is exactly Sony Ericsson's tactic here.
When one Sony Ericsson representative says, "we will focus on the low-end market," everyone on this forum starts complaining and whining. Does that mean Sony Ericsson will only release low-end phones, no! Of course not! For christ sake, we are only in the fourth month of 2008. There is still eight months of the year for Sony Ericsson to release higher end phones.

The thing is, what got most people fed up with

is that (1) After K750/S700/P800/W900

stopped making cutting edge devices.
Other reasons are... 2)

focused almost entirely on low-end segment. 3)

recycled same features on the phones for 2 years. 4)

stopped being the innovative force it was on the market. 5) Bugs. 6) Crap build quality. 7) Crippled devices.

The constant delaying of product announcements. 9) The will to release products like 6months - 1year after announcement.
Sure we love and support

but we can't cover our eyes and say it is all going well. The numbers released yesterday show what people here has been saying for a long time.
You say there are 8 months left this year, so I'll ask you this. If phones announced Q1 are supposed to ship Q3/Q4, then when are phones announced Q2/Q3/Q4 supposed to ship?
I know a lot of people that refuse to buy

's because of the lack of digital audio chips in them. So what's up with that, it's like comparing emulated sound cards on motherboards with standalone sound cards? It's not the same thing.
The fact that

refuses to put digital audio chips in the

's amazes me.
Things like these put many people off. But we should still respect their thoughts and hear them out :]
Also I don't agree WM is bad for

it opens many doors for

to make mass market touch devices like LG and Samsung, and still have UIQ touch devices.
Anyways there are 8 months left, let see what happens
(Crap! long post again)

could just be me, but, do the phones with Japanese code names usually turn out similar to japanese phones?
Take Sakura (w900) for example, japanese designed/inspired
And the upcoming Shiho (Japanese? not sure) but its rumoured to be based on the jap cybershot (what ever model it is)

Possibly. W900i was very well built (almost too well) and was one of the few phones to designed and manufactured in Japan.
The thing is, Japanese phones are not by rule usually slim - the SE fashion for slim phones don't seem to have been taken up as much as it has done in the West.
The 5.0MP SO905iCS was 25mm thick (the 5.0MP C902 is 11mm thick) so hopefully Shiho is well specced and somewhere around the 14mm mark.

With regards to the X1 video, I do like the X1 panel with the clock, calender and stuff on it. I would like to see a few more options on UIQ where you add different elements to the home screen, a bit like Windows sidebar on Vista where you can select whatever to be visible at the home page. I guess screen size is the main limitation, X1 has a massive screen which makes WM look great.
I seem to recall a UIQ dashboard concept thing which maybe describes my point in more detail. The G series panel shortcuts are nice but a single page with everything would be nicer.
Also, Oceana is a great codename for a phone, gives the impression of a very attractive phone.
