Well I would prefer to be going through mice than teh damn power supplies that I have gone through, 3 in the year so far. I thought the magsafe was going to be better than the old phono style plug but no ways same sh*t

I have an annoying little problem at the moment which I hope someone can help me with. After running June's system software update - I went through the process and restarted my machine as advised. However on reboot i was promted with a screen sayting "no updatable devices found". I now get this message everytime I reboot my machine as if this software is still trying to run everytime - now I left this thinking that the next software update would probably mean it sorted itself out - but having run that it hasn't helped. I suspect that it is the update to the cd/dvd drive that is giving me the problem. Any ideas how to sort this?
Also what is up with having to restart my mac all the time now - the ladt two months software updates and the installation of safari 3 have required me to do this - one of the things apple used to mock windows users for ?!?!?!?!

@ mar - maybe its not your power supplys but your electricity supply? have had and sold lots and lots of macs and none have had problems with the powersupply (only my 1st mac ever got a dodgey battery after 3 years old)
It maybe worth plugging it into a surge protector as power supplys should not be failing like you said.
@ Dale - i can help you out on your mouse problems, 1st the mouse is under warrenty so you can get apple to replace it uf you want, or you can just clean out the bit where the ball is by using a tooth brush and small bit of paper....
when I sold you the set I also kept one for myself and mine is sill going strong and I havent cleaned it etc (must have dirty fingers)

@ Dale I had the same problem after a couple of months. Just turn the mouse upside down and vigourously move the scroll ball in all directions - worked a treat for me!

@fatreg: Did you buy that LaCie drive in the end? If you did can I ask what price you managed to find it for?
Cheers

@ welsh - if I were you try to find a lacie D2 drive, I found them much more reliable and more rugged, I bought one of the ones fatreg was looking at but was disapointed by the quality so sold it same day... then again I had a d2 before so was used to a high build quality....
Regards your mac it sounds very odd I have never heard of this kind of problem, I recomend you first run a hardware check on your mac using the install cd's then assuming everythings fine run a back up with silver keeper or carbon copier making sure its bootable. Wipe your mac and re-install your os and then resotre from the backup.

@Luke this has happened with two different macs at two different houses, and if you google it you will see the problem is actually wide spread. Alot of people are complaining that apple should just be able to sell the magsafe cable without the power unit at £70 is quite steep every time.
About this new update, I am having the same problem when I restart and get the same message no updates etc for your drive. Also I think it messed up my wireless its having serious issues and I changed my router 3 times and same problem so I am certain its no the router.
Gonna do a hardware test later and see whats going on

@ Luke thanks for the reply - it is driving me nuts searching for a decent, well priced hard drive - why are Firewire drives almost double the cost of USB?
As for my the problem with the updates - I am loathed to do a full reinstal for such a small (but admitedly annoying) problem - any other suggestions?

One suggestion might be to reinstall the update combo update from apple website.
UPDATE; Looks like I am not alone with my wireless issue damn should have read up on that but I always never trusted my Linksys router.
