I'm pretty much awake.
I'm really disappointed; I had set the DVD recorder to record a programme for da brixsta and it never recorded it... even though I checked that the DVD recorder was recording fine earlier in the day.
To rub salt into the wound, there was a programme on MTV Base about the Wu Tang Clan's history which I had also set up to record.
It was a brand new DVD-RW disc, and it was on the right Sky channel.

I eventually found the problem.
The DVD recorder is set to AV1 to record from the Sky decoder. Playback is on AV2 on the TV. While I was doing chores around the house, I must've accidently bumped the Input Select button on the DVD recorder's remote, which then resulted in the recorder recording a blank screen. I realised when I saw the DVD recorder's display reading '7' and not the usual 'A1' (for AV1)...to my utter dismay.
It's absolutely murphy's law, as it was working fine when I tested it before I cleaned up around the house, and there's never a need to change any settings on the DVD recorder, just rotten bloody luck that I must've somehow nudged the button and didn't notice it on the recorder's display before we went out!

In short, I stuffed up; I should've checked; I've never had a hassle recording with the equipment before apart from when I initially set everything up, and I guess I paid the price for complacency.

@ da brixsta,
xolo; Sky are bound to have a re-run of the episode on one of their channels next month; will try again then.

Thanks swaer. BTW, just something you may need to take into account when you next speak to Jim or anyone in the UK: Winter daylight saving is effective as of midnight tonight, so all clocks, watches etc have been moved back 1 hour, thus there is a 2 hour time difference between the UK & SA from now until the last weekend in April 07.

@da wanqsta: Don't worry too much, I'm having the same issues with my DVD recorder...got a video card with a built-in PVR but it cannot pick up anything except SABC2.

I wish they would implement the same here in SA. On the other hand I think the 'main stream' population will be so confused . . . By the time they get the idea the time will change back again :D 'Africa time' will get a new meaning. It will suit me thou. I will be able to fly almost every day after work, in summer (weather permiting)

@mario: It will confuse the heck out of most people...Hell, it confuses me...I know should they impliment it, the sun would set an hour later in the summer.

Lemme consult wikipedia on daylight saving.

The infamous BSOD aka Blank Screen Of Death strikes again
It happens to the best of us, boet.

Daylight Saving Time would be a great idea here, but first we'll need to convince the population at large to discard AMT (African Mean Time).

Mario, did you attend the AirShow down here at the airport yesterday? I had way too much hay on my fork to attend it myself, but there i noticed some spectacular aerobatic displays as i was driving hither and thither.

We had a beautiful sunset here. This was taken as i was exiting the freeway. Would've preferred to take the shot from the deck of a yacht instead, but ja, maybe one day...

@jiteshraj: A generic version of mxit should work on the M600...then wait for them to bring out one specifically suited for UIQ3.
