Finally got my replacement digitizer today! Thankfully. For awhile there, I thought maybe they took my money and ran!
Anyway, I'm planning for my x10 to bring sexy back on Sunday. My question is has anyone replaced a digitizer yet and if so, can you point me to a nice tutorial? I'm wondering if I need to disassemble the entire phone to replace it or if there's an easier way. Since the screen would be the last thing in a disassembly of the phone, I'd rather avoid having to take apart everything if there is another way to replace the digitizer.
I am aware the digitizer is simply glued on with double sided tape, a tape which I do not seem to have gotten with my package. Thoughts on things I could use?

Heres a Xperia X10 Disassembly Guide.(which you've most probably read already) Maybe it will help a bit.Its also called The easiest way to destroy your phone for Dummies.(and by reading through it,I aint no dummiy,but I wouldnt do this shit,my history of putting stuff back together aint very good

)
By reading through it,it says
Note: The touch module appears to be heavily glued to the front cover. It may be able to be removed by heating the glue (maybe with a hairdryer) but it hasn’t been tried.
Is the Touch Module the digitizer?

A very good luck.If I find something more I'll let you know.

Is anyone else considering upgrading their X10 for the X12 when released?
I'm really liking the thinness of the X12 n the upgrades to the X10. Sure, this is prob what the X10 should have been released with and I guess you could say that its not very competitive given that other companies will have dual core n such but the X10 was without multitouch and flash and it still came out to be a really good, stable phone when eventually released. I'm hoping the X12 will be the same stability-wise cos this phone is really growing on me...but not as much as when i first saw the X10. I still remember the first time i saw the x10 n thought i have to have this phone....

Ya.. i have read this too and with my experience taking apart phones in the past, I don't think I should have a problem. THOUGH, this will be the most complicated phone I'll be taking apart. I'm not too worried though...
There's another thread on xda of a guy who replaced his digitizer (yes digitizer is touch module) and he used the blow dryer method to soften up the adhesive. My only concern is whether I can re-use the adhesive !? I think probably not, in which case i'm not sure what to use. I guess i'll try reusing the adhesive.. if it's soft enough, maybe it can be reused without any issues. I guess i'll find out Sunday. I'll report back.

Does anyone know why the photos in X10 can't be viewed in full crop resolution. And why no one complained about this is beyond me, I mean, even X10 mini has this standard feature. There's no equalizer on mediascape making it useless too which then affects timescape as music played on 3rd party apps won't be summarized there, and neither does the photos. When SE claimed Eclair's delay was due to developing timescape and mediascape extensively for better user experience, I thought it would be worth the wait. Is it now which such lousy media support and integration? How hard would it be to apply equalizer, an exercise repeated countless times before with their previous devices. Lame.

don't know what you mean by full crop resolution, but you can view original size (by zooming) or basically "fit to screen" in mediascape. viewing pictures in media scape is "ok." it's not as efficient as it could be and the swiping action is delayed when it should be instant. Not sure why SE hasn't implemented the instant swipe when the native gallery can do it.
as far as music, equalizer should be easy for them to do, but so should playlists and other features. i agree it is lacking in the music department.
All in all, mediascape is not all that impressive as an experience although I do continue to use it to tag my photos, making looking up pictures for people a lot easier. I do wish they would allow me to tag someone in a picture even if the face recognition software doesn't pick up a face. There should be an option to add a tag and we can drop it where ever we want! Let's face it, the face recognition software is decent but it's definitely not perfect. manual tagging should definitely be an option.

@mode I use
Large Image Viewer by Mihai Preda. Not as fast as
Gallery Shortcut by miyavi which is really nice to use too, but more usable than mediascape. I think the problem with full res pics is they take longer to load up.
I gave up on the in built face tagging. I think about 1 in 10 of the photos that are tagged are correct. Disgrace of a feature if you ask me. Sounds impressive though when you have a friend with an iPhone who won't stop showing you his most recent in-phone edited video with faded transitions and all that.

Make sure your widgets are not hungry. I deleted a few data hungry widgets and my laggy problem was gone.
