Nope, not sarcasm or irony, it's fact. PW taught me how to stand up for that in which i believe, more than any other politician, barring Madiba. Because of his beliefs, i was vehemently opposed to him. I was a student during his heyday, and he really was one of the most hated politicians around, by virtue of the fact that he was so rigid in maintaining such an abhorrent system. It is within that rigidity that i found reason to admire him- in other words, because he was principled, no matter how wrong some of those principles were. He taught me how to stand my ground, he taught our people how to truly resist... Whereas Verwoerd and Vorster were hard men who used the armed forces as they saw fit, Botha was monstrous in his flagrant use of force, in that, from own experience, he would send in the biggest guns available to quell the smallest disturbance.
Above and beyond that, though, my proofsets of Botha's years of reign just escalated in value

So that actually brings up a really good idea for a question, and one I will not answer right now: Who/what defined you, who you are? Who is your role model? What is your inspiration?

Look here, Survival of the Fittest is a lot more conclusive than the Genesis explanation. And try explaining to a Bible Fiend that Adam and Eve are figurative concepts. Or that two people multiplied a couple of times equals a genetic abnormality. Or try telling them that Jesus was not a white man and that the immaculate conception doesnt literally mean that Mary was a virgin. Or wait... That in Jesus' day Christians believed in reincarnation... That the selection of the gospels was seemingly random...
The lack of conclusion goes to the Bible before it does to science. And, at least, science doesnt bury its mistakes and kill half of the 3rd world in the process. (Okay the last statement was harsh but someone has to take responsibility for the misinformation the church has fed these people.)

All true...but in the same way I don't hold todays Germans responsible for uncle Adolf's slight disagreement with the Jews a few years back...Besides, wasn't it the catholic church that went all wonky? lol! Think just ab
There are no absolutes with the info we currently have. All our mindsets are results of something that happened, but that does not mean it is the truth. It is our perception of the truth. Always keep on asking questions. Only way the truth could ever be found. I think i will never really tend towards science since it is a popular mindset, employed by the masses. I like to argue on both sides of the coin.
No-one will know...or maybe one day they will. It is all these little things that makes life so interesting.

I think the more we try to understand and analyze all this science and bible stuff, the more we confuse ourselves. The best thing to do is to know where you stand amongst all this and know what you believe in!
Finish & klaar!

Yeah, but I believe in having an open mind, otherwise dogma can so easily set in and stem forms of lateral thinking.
We can argue until the cows come home, but debate is healthy, even if it doesn't provide us with all the answers. Such a debate as the current one will not end with all things being answered, but if it has broadened our horizons and outlooks, surely we are that much the richer with these new insights, perspectives and knowledge?
Yes, this may confuse some people even more, but I'd rather have debates and questions posed than select a singular outlook to appease my enquiring (and sometimes confused

) mind.
After all, knowledge is power.

Very true. Like I have said before, lots of times I even debate on the other side of my argument, just to make sure whoever agreed with me originally gets challenged from another perspective. You cannot know what you believe unless you have been challenged in that, and despite both sides of the coin can still stick with your opinion.
Now I do all of this, but why? Lots of times that is how and why I think about things. Musing for me happens when I talk openly about something, or when I write a reply in response. Sometimes I just think about it, but my brain works best when my mouth is open funny enough=) The problem with that as you can imagine is sometimes you go down a wrong avenue, and have to back up a bit, reconsider, rethink.

Oooh no, flawed analogy there. If the Germans were still holding fiercely to Hitler's ideologies as many Christians do to the decisions of the early royalty, then yes i would hold the Germans responsible. Thats like saying that racism is fine because you were taught it and you believe in it.
That's another thing i don't understand, this inter-Christian warring. If anything, all it says to me is that the Bible is so confused that Christians are beginning to turn on one another. The dogma of (all) religion is its inherent flaw.
Personally, i refuse to take 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. hand information as divine law. I will read the bible and respond to that which speaks to me. I will read the bhagavad-gita and respond to that which speaks to me. But above all else i'll watch Life, the 1st hand testament, and try to respond.

@ psycho, that is good. I like people having their own opinions about things, and not second hand opinions. It is good to hear what other people think, but better when they are looking for the truth and forming their own opinions. Whatever I throw out are my ponderings, not some "law" that is the be all. If it was, I would be worried. I realize daily that i know stuff-all, and so does everyone else....it is pretty much about what you do with the little you do know, and how you carry yourself.
Gosh, I speak too much crap! lol!
