I noticed two significant things since the update on the delay link posted on the previous page of the P990i.

LINK: http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]1_1&zone=pc&lm=pc3_1&prid=4638

1) Memory Stick PRO Duo support up to 8GB (very positive & killer device)
2) The P990 will be commercially available in Q2 2006. The variants will be:

P990i Dual mode UMTS (2100MHz) - GPRS 900/1800/1900 for Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa

P990c Dual mode UMTS (2100MHz) - GPRS 900/1800/1900 for Mainland China. (Launch for mainland China dependant on availability of 3G services.)

Notice from the first listing of variants that America's is NOW dropped from its description?!!! Does this mean we can expect a possible 850/1800/1900Mhz with UMTS 850/1900Mhz bands?!!

I hope so, and if so SE offer it in true playa, never can go wrong BLACK!

That's probably and embedded image n the MP3, generaly of the album cover. The MP3 format has support for that.
People with iPods generally use this feature.

Newly announced p990 Features ... what I'd really like to know is what exactly is the USB Mass Storage stuff about?

I think it's a way of saying that the memorystick (internal memory too?) now works like a regular flash pen drive.
You plug in windows and appears as a external/removable drive.
It's plug'n'pray

And there was me hoping it meant something else - like it could host USB or something. When are we going to see devices with USB on-the-go or whatever it is so I can connect them together!?

Today the device got back to the owner. I had the P990i for 1.5 week. I made some vids and pics of the new menu. The vids contain the media player, menu, camera and videocamera. The pics are gonna be used in my own preview.

http://www.newmobile.nl/eur/nl/phone.php?phone_id=159eb7f and then press Review.

Below you will find the links to the new vids.

Do you want to look at all 30 vids than please check the following link:

I also made pictures with the camera of the device. Those pics will be linked to our website this upcoming night. Via this link you can check them out. The quality is not that good, but acceptable for this device. Vids cannot be made yet. The device does not allow that.

If you have any questions please let me know.

@MR: nice videos!
Question. Arethe menus as slow as they seem to be, and how did you feel about them?

Slow menu? Look at video 13! even with the flip cover its equal in speed as the W900i is with current firmare. Its acceptable and if new software along with refining OS is gonna speed it up then I'm in. I was used to this menu speed on my .. ahem .. Nokia 6620 on Symbian OS 7.1 Core. Eventual the phone was just to bulky with horrible style.

Bring on the p990i > down with the M600 I say!

Menus are ok! But not yet finished. You can switch off the transitions of the menu and that makes it even faster. It is not sure if will the transitions
in the final ROM. The menu is on certain parts rather slow, but that can
change.

@MR, Have you tried playing any full screen videos on the P990i?
If so, what is the quality like?
