Guys, just to tell you i entered the P1 club
Me too ares my mate

as of yesterday.
The improvement is really great, much more then p910-p900.
Very fast, multitasking superb, screen really visible on the direct sunlight, battery much better, camera quite nice and handy (positivelly suprised), qwerty (qwertz in my case) easy to use especially with one hand, form factor absolutelly fantastic, more internal memory, wifi extremely reliable and stable (didnt expected), opera faster, TrackID something I needed very much, music volume specialy via hbh ds970 so good.
The only thing i liked more in P990 was the screen size but other improvements nicely compesate it.
must say sooo haapppy

You are joking, right .... I had the P1i and DS970 (two of them) and it was abyzmally low.
Really, it was about half of the P910i volume. Honestly!

I cant remember what it was like on the P990 but I find it fine on the P1.
Full whack on the tube means I cant hear the driver announcements!
This does vary with different tunes though.

I've now had my P1i for just over a month and I've not even considered switching back to my K810.
Actually, I've given the K810 to my girlfriend.
Have now debranded the P1i (originally on O2 UK), put generic world 1 firmware onto it and updated it via SEUS.
Very happy with it and I can't see me changing phones again anytime soon.
One thing I'd like for my P1i is the application to use it as a webcam. I've seen it on the P1 Choice site but my P1i didn't come with a voucher.

...whereas... having had my TyTN II for 2-3 weeks I'm already ready to dump my P1 in favour of getting the K850, which is strange considering that even after a year or so of M600 (combined with P990 and original TyTN) I couldn't give that one up (still have it even now)

Over a month into P1i ownership now so here's an update on my opinion.
I came from a Nokia N80, which I found to be a very good phone. The one thing I have missed from the N80 is the amount of software support for UIQ3. It's not that there isn't software out there, you just get a lot more on S60v3.
What it lacks in software though it makes up for with stability of operation. The only issues that I've had have been a couple of crashes with TomTom, which seems to have been cured since I wiped the phone and started installing all the applications again.
I know there's been debates about Wireless B over G. I actually don't notice anything when using the phone. I use the Wireless a lot as well. It's on from the moment I arrive at either home or in the office so I can attach to my email.
There are a couple of annoyances with the phone that could be improved.
Firstly, the voice dialling. Sony could really take a leaf out of the S60v3 OS and make it so all of you contacts have a voice recognition for dialling. The system on S60 then learns you voice over time. Within a week you'll find it's hit rate on voice dialling is extremely high - better than the voice tags on the P1i I've found.
Secondly, which is due to the poor voice dialling, making calls while driving can be very fiddly if the person isn't on a speed dial. Perhaps the ability to customise the phone book display would be a nice feature, making the selection buttons for the different numbers a bit bigger.
Apart from those though I'm very impressed with this phone. I've not been tempted to go back to my Nokia. I'm also really glad I chose this phone over the N95, especially when I see the problems my work colleagues have had with their N95's. After saying I would never own another SE phone after the bugs I experienced with the K750 I'm glad I went back.
The P1i comes highly recommended by this user.

Finally O2 have seen sense and have introduced a flat rate mobile internet add-on to their contracts. It's got a 200mb per month fair usage limit. So from now on I don't have to worry about sky-rocketing my bill by browsing a few pages when out of range of wifi. The 1mb per month that they still offer as standard is really not of this time, especially with a smartphone.
