From what people have written in this thread i agree with you, people are saying latest version causing this focusing problem, Im not sure though, ill have to wait and try it myself when i buy mine

Seems it does not apply to my phone.
Using R1EA030, R1EA035, R1GA028 and never had such problem...

I've downloaded some of Gedas' photos and checked the exif.
I've already written that with R1EA033 I haven't had this focusing problem, however i didn't really used this phone at that time. But as I remeber the focusing was much better.
I started to use the phone after changing tha language pack, and at the same was updted to R1GA028 too.
So R1EA033 was with prg1225-4901_APAC, and now I'm using R1GA028 with prg1212-2029_GENERIC -the same as Gedas' phone has. So it could be possible that this focusing problem is present with this prg1212-2029_GENERIC software.

I would add that I really like this phone and it's camera too, but the focusing bug, and that I can't make brighter the Ev correctiong in darker conditions really annoy me. I hope that will be out soon a software update and that will fix these problems... It would be fine an update with image stabilizer too.

Did a few quick photo's today and all focused fine. Only problem I found was the smart contrast really overdoes the noise when its used and overdoes the brightness of the picture. My C905 also has this problem though so its a general one and not tied just to the C901.

What is your phone's software version? I mean that "prg" number (like prg1212-2029_GENERIC on mine).

R1GA028 prg 1212-2029 GENERIC_FI which is Generic Western Europe firmware. I originally had Middle East/Afr firmware on the phone when I got it.

Yes, only ZN5 is the real rival of C901.
Sometimes it`s better,sometimes is not...
Overall - their cameras are with equal quality!
...and Moto is cheaper...

LOL thats wierd, last night i was thinking the exact same as you, i was researching the ZN5, but i agree with you that the phone looks crap and its also a motorola which gives me the impression that its a bit tacky

The back looks quite good on the ZN5

I dont like the front design, it looks very thick too

looks classier imo

I just hope that SonyEricsson is going to release a firmware update before Christmas. I like to make photos at partys, and spontaneuos moments, and for that this phone would be perfect. I know that it's possible to get well-focused pictures, but in some situations it's not that easy. So sometimes this focusing problem really annoys me. When you want to take a picture in a party is really unpleasant that you have to take 3 pictures to get one well-focused. Then you won't need smile shutter, because you can snap only some bored faces.

Please who experienced this problem with focusing, report it to SonyEricsson and ask if a software update can be expected soon!
By the way I really like this phone, but I want it to work percfectly, or at least as I expect to work.
