Btw...
I have to agree with everyone about the Equalizer issue. You can't have a full music experience if you at least can't chose between presets. Flat is the way the music was intended to sound but we all like to edit the bas and treble depending on what earphones we use or what genre we listen to. I don't know if this is a OS limitation, but seeing as the Equalizer is missing from most of the latest handsets this issue needs to be addressed.

SE are learning. They don't need to have phones that are with the best possible features, they just need phones with good specs on right price levels in order to sell them and to generate profit. Yea, some of the fanboys and geeks maybe will be not so happy from the specs but they are only a small part of the market. Usually the normal users don't really care with is the version of the OS in their phones, they just want them to work as they want.

They are creating rubbish carbon copies of the Iphone. SE have gone the wrong way there build quality and software issues have gone down.

Plus the satio is a terrible phone and it's supposed to be a high end one.

SE copying the iPhone is the falsest statement of the year.

My, how awesome is revisionist history?

A bit of googling would tell all the appletards how Steve Jobs was talking to SE on incorporating their UIQ ideas for what would be the iPhone.

Let's also not forget who had accelerometers and touch focus first or where the idea of the "Genius" playlist came from (SenseME) and so on...

So yeah, SE is "Totally ripping off" Apple. lol.

Sorry but sales figures are dis-agreeing with you here.

Official sales figures from shows that feature phones or low/mid-end mass market phones are NOT selling very well for the past 2009 Fiscal year (you recall that profits DROPPED as well as revenue significantly right)?! One just has to search these very forums for the proof! Management re-organization was done for a reason; and definately against your statement.

Also note sales from the competition on worldwide sales of high-end smartphones (features and hardware) are increasing in sales revenue & profits not dropping! This is no longer a trend as its been sustainably growing increasingly significantly every quarter for over 2yrs now, and exponentially the past 9mths.

is going the cookie cutter carbon segmentation route that Nokia has been known for; which even Nokia has stated their abandoning with any smartphone OS device strategy. SonyEricsson is hoping to boost sales and thus revenue by cutting manufacturing costs by using the same basic hardware platform for the X10 Mini & X10 Mini Pro along with the Vivaz and Vivaz Pro lineup.

Personally I think this is a dumb marketing, platform design, and sales strategy because who in their right minds (geeks, us forum followers, or average consumer) wants to purchase a $300 retail phone that looks and acts like a $150 contract phone?! Or who wants to purchase a $500 retail phone at launch when they need one with a keyboard that costs just $50-70 more; or less than $20 more on contract?!?! [Vivaz vs Vivaz Pro]?!?!?!!!!!

@Synn,

Genius has been around a little longer than you think. Just because it wasn't on iPod/iPhone doesn't mean it was not used or implemented in iTunes the desktop/laptop software earlier. BTW, SenseMe and Genius are not directly competitive nor related in their functionality. So no copying here. What Doministry was talking about was the huge massive direction for touchscreen phones ... now has Satio, Vivaz, Vivaz Pro, X10, X10 Mini, X10 Mini Pro, X2 a total of 7 products; but really just 5 products and sub-categories.

equalisers are not OS limitation. Its reallt sad that SE is not putting equaliser in Vivaz and X10. They would have been perfect.

Nice and quiet around here

New Walkmans for a possible Summer announcement. I'm hoping for high end stuff to replace the W995 but it seems this and Cybershot high ends are gone. Walkman = quality music. Cybershot = quality imaging. Entertainment Unlimited = recalls and failure. It's like Ashley Cole pimping when he's got/had Cheryl waiting for him at home. Walkmans were always the coolest and best looking phones, why not resurrect these brands at the top level?

The HTC HD2 will be the first WP7 mobile since its already out but LG plan to put their first one out in September which is a lot sooner than what we expected. Microsoft have specific builds for different form factors so a full touch device has to be 1GHz+ and dedicated graphics chip (like Tegra on Zune) etc. There is a specific slide out qwerty build which also requires 1GHz+ so expect a speedier device than the X2 for sure. Every WP7 promises to be high end, even must comply to this.
