original USB cable does not charge the phone, but there are probably third party cables that does it.

@sanjeev what sw do you have? I have R2G. Here in my country the update is 5USD$. If i update to last sw i will not have anymore a character limit when writing on esato, yahoo, etc?

if the USB cable as an output voltage the phone will be charging... it can't just supply power to the phone without charging...
