The best review of the camera's 20fps autofocus
At that speed, my current phone will have rolling shutter effect. I really doubt that those giga mp count will prevent rolling shutter.
P.S. the 16mm, is definitely slower than the main cam

Got my 1ii yesterday. Feels pretty much just like my Xperia 1 but a little boxier to hold. Xperia 1 was a little better in the hand. I'll be taking pics today. The headphone jack is the best feature, I got to charge the phone and talk at the same time.

You can start at 7:00 (them will not see the part the throws the phone in the air and lets it reach the floor to test case).
He compares to 1, Auto x DRO x HDR ...

I took a few photos today when I went to the park with my family.
The comparison between my Xperia 1 II and wife's Galaxy S10+ was inevitable.
To my great disappointment, the Xperia 1 II lost to the S10+ when it comes to the fine details.
Just for the sake of it, I used my Fujifilm X-T3 as reference.
Sony Xperia 1 II with pro app full auto

Samsung Galaxy S10+

Fujifilm X-T3

Samsung in full auto looks disgusting as far as color rendition goes but has a lot of details with pretty strong sharpening.
The Sony Xperia 1 II, offers the most accurate colors with really good shadow details but by far the worst image quality of them all.
My camera has the best image quality except from being just a tad too cold and overexposing slightly in the bright areas.
Conclusion, if you don't pixelpeep, the Sony Xperia 1 II offers very pleasing images in full auto.

Did you use the regular camera app?

Oh I realized I used the stock android app, which by the way took a better photo than the Photo Pro app on this occasion.

i think we can all agree that Sony's auto mode in stock app has been average at best. I wouldn't expect it to be that much better in the photo pro app either. Sony's camera system has always been best utilized using manual controls and that's why it's always been more of a niche product because most review sites only review the auto performance, turning off most IG/social media people.
You'd probably get much better results using the P setting in photo pro and tweak the few settings that are still available for manual control.

When comparing to the other manufactures, the image detail hasn't been Sony's forte really.
Here I don't believe you can do anything about it in manual mode as auto mode in broad daylight is pretty darn good already.

i disagree. sony's detail has always been good because it had higher mp than everyone else (before). they just had poor processing algorithms and their automode was always selecting the wrong scene or weird settings, even in broad daylight. the only way to test the camera's true ability is with full manual. comparing auto modes is not really a good test imho.
i mean, just look at those other sample pics from the chinese sites. those have much, much higher level of detail and clarity than your sample photo does. they're both in broad daylight. what's the difference? I think it's auto mode vs manual.
