@hkanji

all devices that use flash memory will be slow when first starting-up. In the case of the M600 it appears it loads about 40MB of files into RAM (or at least that's what it looks like).

thats also a common issue with windows mobile 5 devices...

anyway, following my post this morning I have got home with 23% battery to spare and now getting numerous low battery warnings.

on the way home I was reading and repeatedly updating the Aussie - Italy coverage on the bbc mobile web site and I could almost see the battery meter dropping every 10 or so page refreshes!

I guess the battery life will improve after a few more charge cycles but its still quite a drastic comparison to my k-jam where I rarely see less than 60% at the end of the day

btw, that includes auto checking email every 15 minutes too

re: battery life

Well here is my data on battery usage after a 2.5 hrs charge via mains. This is the original battery which had 2 full charge/discharge cycles (used to 20/25%) and lots of short USB charges (which I don't use now).

Standby: 20 hours, with 3G coverage 85% of the time
BT : 11.5 hours (paired to BT headset and used for laptop sync)

Usage:

- 15 min calls
- 40 minutes web browsing
- 30 mins ebook reading
- 15 mins listening to AAC/MP3s
- 20 mins other activity (PIM etc)

Battery charge left : 35%

For comparison my Nokia 9500 (2G) would last nearly two days with above usage while my HTC Universal (3G) would not get through the day with the above usage.

hmmm... I haven't recorded my usage in such detail but I am trying to do the same on the M600 that I normally do on the k-jam and based on that, and your figures, its not looking great

lets keep an eye one this for a while.

meanwhile I've ordered a K800 so I'll be giving that a good bash too!

btw, someone mentioned web browser delays but I haven't seen that. The only delay I get since that last reflash is after choose flight mode or phone mode up until the m600 is actually usable

re: M600 web app

Starting the web afresh was taking 60 seconds at times, after a reflash it was 30 seconds and then after a Master Reset it was like other apps (within 2 secs). But I noticed that as I save password data and other data it takes the web app longer to start - deleting 'private data' seems to speed-up the initial start. I am thinking that the 40MB of RAM used by the OS includes some application caches which take time to populate when you start an app the first time.

apart from the reflash, I have done none of that and all seems well with the web browser

I've started installing stuff too like a screen capture proggy and Advanced Call Manager which is pretty good and equates quite well to smart filter that I use on k-jam, oh, and the trial worldmate

Can anyone check this for me, I notice the phone doesnt dim (at least my version doesnt) when you in a call, the backlight will stay on no matter how long you on.

Obviously this is a big drain on the battery as the keypad also stays lit.
