yes...
as seen in this image the
original USB cable has a small connector for the phone, so the contacts for the charger is free on the phone systemconnector so you can plug in a charger if needed.

I have changed my post about R4B and R4A... R4B only exist for US versions on T39m....
Firmware is often used when talking about a system that can't be altered without flashing it, for example if it's loaded into a ROM, like mobilephones, or the BIOS in your computer.
Software is what you put into a computer... the name software is often used when talking about firmware... I'm trying to use only firmware when talking about the system in the mobile phone, but sometimes it get mixed up
