Do not update your phone through the oficial Sony Ericsson Update Service. it will make your phone CID53 an unavailable for further advanced moding. Anyway flashing will solve your problem for sure. I had the same problem with my K800, and flashing solved it.
You can find flashing tutorial here:

and firmware files can be found on

Thanks for your advice but doing it the way you described is far too advance for me at the moment. I'll have to learn. Such tech stuff isn't really my forte. lol. Even flashing it via SE's site is a little intimidating. I'll probably try it in the next few days.
I don't even know what is CID53 or what it does!

Well I'll try to explain.
Your phone has a CID, which is some sort of source code in the phone which keeps you blocked of using cracked and third party tools (XS++) to flash your phone and do advanced operations with it. That CID is labeled with numbers. you phone model has 4 different CIDs at the moment. CID49, 51, 52, 53, so if your phone is older (not bought recently) you probably have lower CID (51 or 52) which means you can flash it with XS++.
CID53 is not supported for flashing by XS++ yet, so if you update your phone through the ordinary Sony Ericsson Update Software, it will raise your CID to 53, so you won't be able to flash your phone with XS++. That doesn't mean you cannot flash the phone anymore, but it makes the procedure of flashing your phone a lot harder and complicated than it was previous.
P.S. If you have CID53 in your phone after all, you can folow this tutorial to learn how to flash it (instad of K810 files use firmware files for your W880):

Hope this explanation helped you a bit

lol I think I've to forget about the advance method at the moment cos even the most basic method of updating via SE is unsuccessful. It said that I've the lastest software. But it can't be as my phone is over a year old. My version is R6BC002.
So no update was done and my problem persist.

Hmm.....seems weird, after repeated formatting of the M2, switching on/off the phone and deleting, my problem is solved! lol.

Hello Everybody,
I'm new in this Forum, and I would like to thank you about all relevant information I was able to find... except this one:
I've just bought a 8Go mem card for my W880, and it only recognizes 4Go. Is there a way to have all 8Go available.
Thanks.

There was such problem with K800s... They were showing 6GB memory when 8GB card was inserted. Anyway try to fill up the card with stuff. And leave no space behind. I mean make it full around 7.5GB. If all data is read you shouldn't worry about the free memory indicator... It may be wrong sometimes.

Thanks for the answer, I think you are right. I filled in the memory card with a lot of music, ans it seems I have access to all music.
More over I double checked the size of music directory, and it read 5950Mo.
So at the end, everything should be OK, and W880 accepts 8Go mem card.
By the way, I also had contact with Official Sony Ericsson support, and I was said that W880 regnizes only 4Go mem card...

Well yeah Sony Ericsson aren't always right. Sometimes it seems that they don't know their phones like they should be.

By the way I know about this free memory reading problem, but I don't see a reason why 8GB card won't work od DB2020 phones when they accept the 4GB ones. The 8GB and 4GB cards have the same filsystem and type of formatting leaving NO reason to worry if your DB2020 phone will support 8GB card or not.
And tnx for confirming you success with the 8GB card,

Hi

.
I bought a w880 some weeks ago, and although I'm satisfied with the level of the mobile phone and the applications (My other cell's were all Nokia's, which I thought were better :S), the camera disappointed me a little. It's ok when the pictures are in the cell phone, but when I open them in my computer, the quality gets very, very low. Is this normal in the model? With a 2MP camera, I thought that the quality was better...
