I know, sorry if I appeared overly aggressive. My anger was supposed to be directed at certain others...

I haven't read all the crap but it seems mr Away is becoming what he is blaming. An extremely annoying fanboy. Fanboys are annoying, even if it's Apple fanboys, Samsung fanboys, Nokia fanboys... or Sony fanboys. They are all fanboys.
People that cannot accept facts and they use a brand not because their products, but because of the brand royalty.
So mr. Away, if I had to chose a smartphone I would look at ALL advanced smartphones from ALL brands and I would chose Galaxy S3 at that time because it was the best overall.
I haven't switched to S3 myself because I'm still using the S2 and it's a good smartphone. Even I would like NFC and HD screen but:
1) S2 is way more solid than S3. I've dropped the phone so many times but the screen is intact because of the protective frame that S3 is lacking. I hate cases. Had a silicon one and didn't used too much.
2) AMOLED screens fades very fast. At least AMOLED +. I think in about a month it started to fade, I could see the difference of the status bar (which is in black) area and the rest of the scree. So I would like to wait more to see how it goes with AMOLED screns, if there will be an improvement in led life or not.
But I have to rekon the AMOLED screen is so vivid in images. Tested same movie on my iphone 5 near a galaxy s3. I think it's one of the best display out there if you like to watch movies.
3) I operate many times one handed and the S3 was kinda hard to use when you try to reach upper corner. But if this is the trend, I have to adapt.
4) The CPU is still Cortex A9. Was expecting A-15.
5) Expected better battery life on S3. It seems that's a general problem with Android smarptohnes. The battery life (I'm talking about display time, especially when browsing.. and yes I know that amoled consumes more battery on white - majority of webpages-)
What Samsung need to to is a redesign of the Touchwizz. I cannot stand it. Those big toggles icons, those colors, etc..
I like the clean stock Android interface (I'm running AOKP 4.1 right now on the S2)
In a conclusion, mr Away you shouldn't judge users by the phone they are owning (or brand). Maybe many of them made a research prior they acquisition, don't you think? Don't throw them in the same pot. I know there are people jumping from one phone to another just because of brand royalty but there are many exceptions too. People that chose the best phone for their needs.

Just checked in on s3 thread, looks like you guys are having fun here

We are

Away got us in LOL-ing with each post.
Away
Samsung grew after copying the iPhone from design to interface. I
hate Apple more than Samsung, but I always said that Samsung
fans are only no2 to Apple fans in stupidity.
^

Errmm...
NO Samsung have been growing at a steady rate since the D series models, going as far back as '03, if like me you keep up with the stock market and Quarterly results you would know this

what really boosted them were runaway successes, one of them being the Windows Mobile6.0 based Omnia i900, this followed by the Symbian based OmniaHD i8910, by the time the 1st Galaxy S arrived Samsung were already the 2nd largest phone manufacturer with a solid brand and user base, the Galaxy S then shot them up as it was both Software and Hardware wise the best Android of its time, saying its because they copied Apple is the easy way out for someone who lacks knowledge or is trying desperately to undermine them, you seem to be both.
Since the S3 Samsung have stopped copying Apple, and chose to
steal their Camera interface from Sony instead.
Are you honestly insinuating that the S3 was a success due to a Camera interface???
Also, how can Sony be a tier 2 manufacturer when the Z will be the
most premium smartphone on the market for a few months?
Its priced like one, but it isnt one, huge difference, we already had the HTC Butterfly with similar specs excl. water/dust proofing.
In terms of TVs, Sony are expensive, but their flagship of the under
£1000 range was the best of all the competing products?
Why have they developed CLED for TVs, which we may one day see
on smartphones?
Why is their games console the best - both handheld and living
room...?
We are talking MOBILE here, and last i checked, Xbox was owning Ps3 in marketshare.
Anyone that says Sony are a tier 2 manufacturer are simply stupid.
The S3 doesn't beat the competition like the S2 did. I always
preferred the arc S thanks to the screen (which wasn't amoled and
had Bravia engine), but for most people, the S2 was the better
phone. Now, the S3 is like what the iPhone 4s was, not better than
the competition, but popular thanks to a lack of knowledge of the
majority of consumers who thought it was like fashion...
They are tier 2, get over it man.
S3 brought the most to the table in 2012, dont let your hate blind you bro.

I also enjoy variety, love the combination of Android and iOS with my Galaxy S3 and iPad4, it's refreshing whenever I go from one to the other. The crispness of iOS and its incredible apps and games plus its simplicity and the high functionality, customizability and openness of Android, they complement each other so well, that I can't imagine going back to my Android ONLY lifestyle

my phone and tablet shall never run the same OS again, if Apple can just bring the iOS UI upto 2013 I will be be completely satisfied as they are owning in everything else when it comes to tablets.
The day I have to get a 2nd phone I would love for it to be a BB10 phone or a Linux Ubuntu phone, I have too many Androids, I only need one and that will always be my main phone.
Sean

I love my variety of women, as you've seen.

An interesting piece from BGR:
http://bgr.com/2013/01/17/iphone-market-share-294134/
Some very interesting points were made, here are some:
Despite the expanding market, however, Apple (AAPL), like many others, will apparently be unable to keep pace with Samsung (005930). According to a report from ABI Research, Apple’s smartphone market share is expected to peak at 22% this year and remain flat through 2018.
Seems just like Sony, even Apple will have a hard time keeping up with Samsung, despite lawsuits:
“Barring an unlikely collapse in Samsung’s business, even Apple will be chasing Samsung’s technology, software, and device leadership in 2013 through the foreseeable future,” said senior analyst Michael Morgan.
On the back of Android, Samsung’s market share has increased from 8% in 2010 to 30% in 2012. The firm notes that Samsung is so massive that the future of the mobile OS landscape will be heavily influenced by the products it releases.
Seems no matter how much people like Away try to undermine Samsung and their innovations and contributions to the tech world they continue to prosper, copying can only get one so far just look at the Chinese manufacturers who tried to copy iPhone and whatever else. Guess the whole "Samsung is a copycat" excuse is one used by people who are just blinded by their hate and jealousy of a brand as compared to their favorite brand, it's an easy way out of an argument, if the people who accused Samsung of this actually took the time to investigate they would find that the same patents that Samsung was accused of infringing, many other companies, including their favorite brands also infringed but the difference being that Samsung actually make profit and are worth suing unlike some tier 2 manufacturer who are barely breaking-even.

Samsung never made it big from copying Apple. Samsung have made their own innovations. Apple never invented the wheel did they?? I cringed the other day seeing the advert about the iPhone 5 with them advertising the noise canceling mic. I mean come on Apple seriously?? How long ago was that first made, are they going to claim that next??

I dont even bother to read its comments anymore. Theres two types of people on the internet. Normals and morons. Guess which I class it as ?
@ Sean - ditto dude. I cannot offer any OEM brand loyalty. They all treat us like cattle. All of their customer service sucks. I just approve or disapprove their business strategies. I just enjoy their products even if from year to year I change who actually makes my phone.
Dont ever change
