lol! Give the Romans Roman packages, and the Lanyard and CD guy a Lanyard and CD guy package;-) What electronic stuff you get? Did you place some side orders with the man?

All too happy to have received my package in one piece though!

So I am GP-sitting later this week. That is, my grandparents. Oh dear I hear you all say. It is not like that, it is more like OH $##@#$in DEAR! The reason goes as following, my aunt lives there to take care of Gramps. Grams is not the most caring of ladies(Steph Grams anyway) so she wants me to make sure he gets fed something other than cookies and tea(it is all she makes all day) Gramps is slightly repetitive, almost reaching levels of Ozzy Osbourne. Damn annoying I hear you say. Damn annoying, I say back.

Don't mind it too much. Not looking forward to it, but oh well! Gotta do a bit for my GP's sometime...and maybe a HUGE stash of cookies...

lol, just joking, Francois mine looks the same as yours, hehehe

Looking after grandparents can be such an experience! Mrs.K's grandma, before she passed on, always made me laugh, she was one of the very few to whom i could entirely speak my mind and be understood. In her last few years her mind regressed somewhat, but fun was still had by all.

What REALLY scares me is that my mind has LONG gone.... Even i don't understand myself anymore

Right, here's a mini review of a real ama-cheap-cheap handset, namely the J230i.
The phone usually costs £29.95 (approx R20), but you may recall a slight hassle I had with Carphone Warehouse's network called Mobile World. They were very decent and then gave me an additional £10 airtime for any slight inconvenience caused.
When I went to the local CPW store to claim it on Sunday, one of the blokes offered to give me £20 discount off the J230i instead of the airtime, if I wanted. That meant only £10 (approx R140) for the phone and £10 for the minimum airtime top-up purchase to get it at that price...!

Now fair enough, there's no camera, IR or Bluetooth etc. obviously, but it does come equipped with headphones for the integrated FM radio, and at the very least it has GPRS... moerse.
It has pathetically little memory...(try half a meg!), but it was bought to use up the piles of free simcards from online promotions, which usually have £1-£5 aitime on them. Better than going to waste as such, or fetching peanuts on eBay.

Interesting for a phone, the fascia covers are completely exchangeable, unlike the Z530i, Z520i, J300i etc which also have exchangeable covers, but these are more like exchangeable 'parts' of the fascias, as they don't replace the entire exterior as such.

I remember when I bought the Ericsson R380 back in the day, and the relatively big box that it was packaged in, complete with desktop charger, big manuals, other attachments etc. This li'l phone comes packaged in one of the dinkiest packages to date.
Compared to the P900 (and taken with the Nokia 3230):

A few of the usual wallpapers, themes and 'tones to choose from (taken with an Olympus digital camera):

The J230i is the first of the low-end phones to feature the new charging port and related attachments:

Another feature that I found unusual is that the entire centre bezel surrounding the joystick moves or 'rocks' for scrolling though menus, not the joystick by itself, which is great for those with not-so-small fingers.

In all, nothing much to expect..it is a dedicated low end phone with a fm radio and headphones thrown in, but for the price of a tenner, I ain't complaining...

Funny enough, there's an all-bling gold fascia stocked amongst the other J230i fascias at http://www.mobilefun.co.uk , and this was also the handset that was sold with solid gold fascias in the UAE:

Another crazy day at work...we were running around, at first, like headless chickens but as the day progressed the fog cleared. Was covering the train disaster near Stellenbosch where 19 people died this morning.
Sent pics of the carnage to my newsroom via email on my phone, my colleagues were quite impressed:grin:

@ jmash,
Congrats, mfowethu...I'm really happy for you...nothing like your own space 'n place.

@ Francois,
LMAO...good to see that there was a lot more going down in your left nozzie over the weekend, swaer.
Nice pics! Keep 'em coming, I believe that all these pics add so much more to the thread in their own right(a picture is worth a thousand words etc.).

Don't know if anyone mentioned this...R.I.P to Jabu Khanyile...was never one of his biggest fans but I'll be the first to admit he revitalised South African music in the 90s.

@ wanqa, glad you like the pics, will keep them rolling in the time to come:) so the new charges ports, any good? I hate my headset connection on my phone. The one thing i would want improvement on on se phones.

So yeah, i am quickly having a smoke before bed time. Not been outside 10minutes and the cops have driven by 3 times already. They choose their nights really badly.

My final exam tomorrow. There will thankfully be a rewrite due to poor admin, but going in tomorrow. Leaving my phone at home due to examination rules and my exam being town centre, which is the dodgy part of town, as is most of it.

Clean skies here, but the garden is still dripping wet:)

Be back tomorrow from work though. Good thing there is internet there:)

@ Francois,
It uses the same charge port/connector as your W900i.
The low end, cheaper phones were, until recently, still using the old-style charge ports, like those found on the P910i, K700i, S700i, etc.
EDIT: Good luck with the exam tomorrow.
