Ja nee, I agree Francois, let's get the ball rolling in here again.
How'd the exam go yesterday?
I've had a very hectic morning, running a Gifted and Talented workshop with a few G&T kids from various local primary schools.
Murphy's Law tried to intervene a few times, but we managed to keep him in check for most of the time...
The kids were given a challenging maths assignment, calculating potential running costs at a typical theme park after given sheets with all the raw data (including average costs, typical wages, etc.) given a capped amount to spend on facilities and how/where to place these in the theme park, potential problems, other peripheral attractions to increase profits, how much staff would be required for the different things, etc. etc.
They kept me on my toes alright, and I'm amazed with what they have achieved this morning!

Good ol' eBay.
I'm planning to build another 'rat / survival bike', after nearly 10 years.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rat_bike
In 1994, the rat bike I had then won the rat bike category of the concours competition at the Buffalo Rally in Oudtshoorn. It had an air speed indicator as the speedo, sans pitot tube, and it obviously didn't function. I was tempted to remove the air speed indicator's face (in Knots) and goffel it to fit the face of a bike speedo, but never really got round to it.
So when I saw this item on eBay, my creative juices kicked into gear, and the first part of my new creation ie. rat / survival bike arrived in the post today...
(Taken with the Nokia 3230:)

Wanqa, it's highly possible that i saw your bike, since i attended most of the Buffs up until a few years ago...
The past few days have been busy in the extreme, too much to do and too few hours in which to do it... I've been waking up every morning feeling as if i had a severe hangover... all signs that the academic year is drawing to a close, and that the Silly Season is upon us

Eish Kryptik, it would've been funny if we had actually met at one of the Buffs.
Seaview was a much better location for the Buff than De Hoek...
When I first came to the UK in '97, I left the second Rat I made with my friend Marius,(the first one I sold to fix my car back then...) who took very good care of it. After the '97 rally, the bike appeared on the front page of The Weekend Post (or whatever it's called now) back then, with Marius striking a pose on the thing.
It was painted with liberal coats of Durabak (that black rubberising paint for bakkie loadbodies)...met 'n kwas...

True, although the reality of it is that back then i spent many many pleasant hours at the Buffs floating on a cloud of Johnny Walker fumes

and invariably met many people, quite a few floating on similarly flavoured clouds, lol. You never know...
