I would go for an IR port... if you in the future buy a new phone you don't have to buy a new cable (if the phone has IR of course) if there is a different connector...

@Cytech:
Well, let it be for T39m - could you help to find R4B flash images (Emma .cry format or .jar file accepted) or any official info on this revision?

since I don't support "home flashing" of phones all I say is, search Esato and you can find links to sites for downloading firmware files.. or use an ordinary search enginge....

I haven't used the USB cable so I can't say much about that one... but sure... USB does support higher speeds than serial... but other then that it's probably your wallet that decides which one to buy

Nice move, guy!
I really wonder - what in my post have made you think of "home flashing"?...
There's a lot of rumours everywhere on this R4B. But NOBODY for now has ever seen this version!!! IMHO, the best way to prove your words is to "show" the object of discussion or, at least, official info on it.
In case of firmware the object is firmware itself, isn't it?
Correct me if I'm wrong

sure I can prove it... on monday when I'm back at work I'll take a screen dump from Emma... has not released any info on what the changes are in R4B003, but a wild guess is that it's some network specific changes since it's only available for US version.

Hi, I just have a few questions that it seems everyone knows but me:

1) are the keys on the CE r520m backlit (if so is it the green/teal light like on the silver version)

2) how do you upgrade firmwares in the US (preferably without mailing away the phone)? I know that someone just posted about not supporting home-flashing but I don't want my phone gone for 10 days or something.
