Well, realistically, I don't think that SE is exiting the smartphone market, since it's growing and in next few years it will be one of the cue segments of the mobile market.
All the manufacturer's now are focusing on it (among other segments too).
So now there are only two choices probably:
1. They're preparing serious devices, of which G700/900 is just a start.
2. They lost the direction and all the competition jumps higher.
The option 2. does not seem so possible yet, why? With some nicely tweaked Windows 6.1 screens?
So, there's probably not much time left and we'll see.
The only thing which can be suspicious, is X1/Windows platform in SE house, but it seems this device is mostly for american market.
P.S. If somehow SE will loose it's position/direction, there'll be hard choice.
I think about a "pervert" solution - iPhone 2.......

I could answer the same thing just out of my head, honestly we all know that we're BEFORE, not AFTER, PK.

Kinda off topic-but pretty important to me.
My k750 is geting weary and I'm starting to look for a new companion.
What I want to know is if se is going to release any compact (do not consider the k850 to be compact), fast, high end a/f phone- say a succesor to the k770/t650, w810/w610 etc. ?
How big is Shiho going to be? (biger/smaller; slimmer/thicker than k850)?
(edited for spelling mistakes)

Im in the same boat as you oddie, my k700 joystick is almost dead, and semptember is looking like a long, long way away. It hopefully will be worth the wait. If the May announcements dont impress me, then I will have to get the G900 or the HTC Touch Diamond (bit of an obvious choice which...), and I want an SE

I really hope this next imaging flagship gives the K series (or whatever name the next high-end imaging se gets) back the honor and glory. As far as I'm concerned the last true compact,DEPENDABLE,high-end K was the k810- which I may add is over a year old now. That's why I'm having a really hard time picking- do I get a time-tested classic or wait for Shiho?
PK- do you think it will meet the bill??
