u need an EDGE phone to access EDGE. unless u want to buy another EDGE phone, if not u still will use GPRS.
and by the way, since u can surf using EDGE. u can use icon base. download of icon will me more kb than simple text forms. even EDGE have the charges like GPRS, i doubt u have to pay more.
this is only temp charges i think. charges might be lower or even come out like monthly subscription.

@Fulat, true, there are not many EDGE handsets out at the moment, but I'm sure many more are to come ? 3G will be a far worse case of daylight robery compared to the current GPRS / GSM / SMS rates ya? I dread the day i see 3G prices...
