EDIT:

@786KBR,
The Nokia 5500 Sport has to one of the smallest Symbian phones from the main manufacturers, being only 107mmx 45mmx 18mm. (runs on Symbian 9.1, series 60,3rd edition.)

@786KBR, did a search on gsmarena.com for you. The two smallest Symbian phones that I found are the Panasonic X800 (100 x 48 x 17 mm, 79 cc) and the Samsung D720 (99 x 47 x 23 mm), running on Symbian OS 7.0s, Series 60 v2.0 UI, and Symbian OS 7.0, Series 60 UI respectively. Not exactly the latest phones in the market, but I've long learnt that with a Symbian phone, there's no expiry date. So add these to the Nokia 5500 that amawanqa suggested and I think you've got the 3 smallest Symbian phones in 3 different form factors. You'll also notice that each of them are the smallest in one of the three dimensions, so there's no clear smallest phone I'd think.

So what is the volume? I tried to think back to my science days, and I hear this feint snoring sound....

Wow Thanks, so it is possible to make smaller symbian phones, why are all the other so big??

You're right, deluded.
It's a pity though that Panasonic has terminated its GSM portfolio. I really liked some of their last efforts, like the VS6 et al.
The D720 hit the European markets back in March 2005, and is thus becoming very hard to find. (I found 1 new one on eBay UK, for £180 BIN.)

Speaking of the Nokia 5500, here's a new one going for R3200 on Bidorbuy.

@amawanqa, you're quite right, it's a real pity that Panasonic has pulled out of the mobile phone market. They seemed to have gotten it right with their last few models. Also, when thinking of the slimmest Symbian phone, the Panasonic X800 rarely comes to most people's minds, which is a pity. Incidentally, I think I've told Kryptik before, on my friend's X800, using FExplorer shows the Nokia folder within the phone. Pretty interesting I'd think. Panasonic probably just borrowed Nokia's OS from them and made little changes.

@786KBR, I'm not sure why most Symbian phones aren't made smaller, but I gotta say that the X800 has a pretty poor battery life. My friend used to have one and the battery wouldn't last more than a day. The package includes a spare battery to make up for it, but I don't think most people would want to carry a spare battery around if they could help it. You'd also notice the Nokia 5500 has a smaller than standard screen size. So I guess there are some trade-offs if you want something smaller.

True, that screen looks more at home on a s40 Nokia. Somebody asked an interesting question last night, why is it that the 6600 seemed to have fewer memory problems than subsequent models. From what i recall, that's true as well...

Anyway, thought i'd go and see Borat this week, but now i'm not too sure- doc says i have kidney infection, of all the blighted things to have. I mean, kidney! wtf!

@kryptik: Do you know how you got the infection? Sorry for the silly questions...In all my adult life I've never been in a hospital bed.
@da wanqsta: When did Panasonic stop making mobile phones or is it just GSM? Never understood why we never got their phones this side.
Been quiet of late due to work pressures and at the same time depressed at the indifferent form of my favourite football team.
