perhaps they wanted to optimize video speed and downgraded decoding quality.

Until a "final" firmware (= stable, excelent speed, optimal battery, etc) we still have to wait 2-3 months.

If you look at the water in one of the pics (at the 1632x1224 res) just below the reflection, you will see these stripes. That's more than noise. More pronounced on the right hand side of the picture.
