Guys, is it practically possible to fit a 2/3" or 1/1.2" sensor in a sub 10mm body ???
New Nokia EOS rumors suggest that it will be sub 10mm thin with a 1/1/2" sensor.
The sensor itself is 6.6mm in case of 2/3" and 8mm in case of 1/1.2". So how can the screen, motherboard, front camera, and other components be packed in just 3.4 mm?
For comparison sake, Xperia Z is one of the thinnest 5 inchers at 7.9mm. The Z sensor is 3.6mm, so that means the screen and other components take up 4.2mm.
So with the same numbers, Honami sensor is 6.6mm so 6.6 + 4.2 = 10.8 mm
Which means we can expect about 11-12mm thickness for honami.

So could Sony, with all its engineering skills, manage to make the thickness 11mm exactly/as close to 11mm, for the Honami?

They are probably the stupidest tech site out there. I never thought they would fall for the fabricated information randomuser user provided to deceive and ridicule them, but they did... The majority of the vocal people in their comments section are also amongst the stupidest out there. And iPA moderators block people for no reason whatsoever.
Anyway, on topic, is it only me who thinks they could get away with making the phone thicker if they market it as having extraordinary battery life?

I'm surprised
specially by this part:
"In addition to the high brightness and vivid colors, the display panel sports
very good viewing angles"
and they said it's the best Android tablet now

Na, the sensor. Have it on display next to the phone itself once they announce it. No one would really question it after that.

Sony may already be working on high-end phone to replace your Xperia Z - codenamed Honami and is expected to feature strongly of Cyber-shot and Walkman branding, along with the label Xperia, if the leaked details are confirmed.
According to Chinese language site ePrice, the reason for using a Sony Cyber-Shot brand is usually associated with compact device camera, the camera fell to Z2: building a 13 megapixel model is included in the Xperia Z, Honami - which will likely launch as Xperia Z2 - has an impressive 20 megapixel CMOS sensor and lens Carl Zeiss, which can easily rival the most dedicated compact cameras. Also, Xenon flash and dual LED illumination for video recording, the camera seems to be also include oversampling system that can record high-quality low-resolution still images, capturing the full 20-megapixel images and data reduction - a similar approach to that taken by 808 PureView Nokia , although in a much reduced form.
For the expected 5-inch Full HD In-Plane Switching (IPS) display, ePrice says the device will include the recently launched Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor runs at an impressive 2.3 GHz, 2 GB or more of RAM, and a modem, which fully supports the Global Long Term Evolution (LTE) high-speed mobile networks. Details of internal storage capacity were not separated, but Sony apparently targeting the very high end of the smartphone market is likely to launch a phone with a choice between 32 GB and 64 GB of flash memory.
Details of the operating system were not provided, but the phone is expected to launch or Android 4.2 Jelly Bean or Key Lime Pie upcoming release along with Sony, the usual settings and predefined software packages.
Part of the company's internal program called "One Sony, 'phone Honami is expected to show the best of the company's smartphone Xperia, Cyber-Shot camera, and Walkman audio technology, along with the same water and dust resistance shown in the Xperia Z. The new unit, which is expected to be called XPERIA i1, Sony has decided to combine such features as:
• 5-inch Full HD display with enhanced color reproduction and high definition Triluminos X-Reality
• CPU Snapdragon S800 graphics Andreno 330
• 2 GB or more of RAM
• Do not 20 or even 16 and 13 megapixel camera with a sensor size 1/1.5 \", F2.0 aperture, G Lens lens, Carl Zeiss optics and processor BIONZ, which is nothing more than a response ultrapikselny chamber HTC One
• thickness of the device at its thickest point is 12 mm (probably due to the camera)
• Dual Xenon flash
• Separate audio chip Walkman S-Master MX
• Battery 3000 Mach
• High-quality aluminum-glass-carbonate (possibly waterproof) housing
According to the testers, XPERIA i1 will be the most beautiful of the entire line unit XPERIA. If we consider that the size of the smartphone will be comparable with the XPERIA ZL, then the animal will be really cute. Like it or not remains to be seen. Fans of Sony just need to be patient, the announcement of the device supposedly slated for late summer / early fall, so we are waiting, my friends ...
