Ok my Findings on a fresh install of R1FA035 United Kingdom (24 Hours on)
From R1EA031 O2

Pros
• The phone starts 2-3 seconds faster
• Marble Madness is very different, It reacts so much better
• Mp’4s are in sync, I’ve played many videos and no probs at all
• The phone hasn’t crashed or rebooted once (Normally this used to happen once a day or so)
• Phone it self is general faster (Or is Feels much faster)
• New Feature in Media (Update)
• Battery Life is better
The phone was fully charged this morning, Ive made the following
48mins of calls
75 sms
13 pics
2 mms
21mb of internet, email and rss feeds switching from GPRS to EDGE
1 hour of wap usage
15 mins of marble madness
15 mins of music
And the battery life is still at 72%

Cons
• When using File Manager you can no longer select the files by using the first letters of them
• The phone is still slow when you are listening to music and texting etc, However this is no way as slow as with R1EA031. It’s a vast improvement, but could be still better

Performance
- JBenchmark 3D HQ: 447
- JBenchmark 3D LQ: 434
- JBenchmark 2: 906
- JBenchmark 1: 6434

Hi darrengf and other O2 K850i owners,
I've just updated my O2 phone to this FW and notice the Java icon when running an app still shows 2 purple boxes instead of the Java icon as it used to on my K810i and K800i
I read that this had been fixed with R1F.
Is this the same for everyone else on O2 branded phones?
Thanks,
Jon

Good Morn.

Jon From what i beleive is that the 2 purple squares are the current Java Icons and i dont beleive that there is any changes in process to change them.

However this may change in future updates.

Hope this helps.

I know you debranded and flashed to R1F a while back. I now assume that you have now reflashed to O2 via SEUS, I was wondering what F/W did you flash to via Davinci to get the CDA back to O2's?

Im still running on the Debrand Firmware as I get everything the same as the o2 firmware, the only things that o2 remove from there firmware are the my friends folder and the play now button. The other thing that the change is how the volume button works. (start up and shutdown logos are also different)

Other than that the o2 is the same as a generic firmware

However to answer your question. I do happen to have another o2 K850i to hand and the firmware that i did use was the Black and Silver version of R1EA031 K850i o2-uk - western europe

(K850i R1EA031 CID52 O2 UK/QUICKSILVERBLACK WESTERN-EUROPE - EN EU CA NL FR GL DE PT ES TR)

*** One thing i can tell you though ***

When you update a Generic K850i on Seus
And when you update a O2 K850i on Seus.

The firmwares are identical. The o2 one does not use any different firmware to the generic branding ones.

The reason for this is that SEUS only updates the main firmware and not the pics, startups and shutdowns logos etc.

I hope this answers you question.

****

Fro those wanting to update you for the other following networks:

T-Mobile - UK:
I can tell you that its still awaiting approval from T-Mobile uk, So the latest version is still R1DA038

3 - UK:
Is still on R1EA037

Vodafone - UK:
Is still R1EA031 (I also beleive on vodafone that they have no plans to release any more firmwares and they are going to stop supporting the phone as well.

Orange - UK
Is still on R1EC001

If you have any more questions then please ask.

@darrengf

Thanks for your synopsis. You say that O2 changes how the volume keys work, is this in R1FA035?

I am running a debranded generic R1FA035 and like how the up/down volumes initiate the Phone Status - is this maintained in O2 R1FA035?

If so I will probably flash back to the O2 BLACK QUICKSILVER just incase it does brick it at some point and I have to send it off to O2.

R1FA035 seems to be a good update. Phone seems genrally faster, music seems louder or better quality can't really work it out yet. Mega Bass sounds a bit better to me...Battery life has improved. MP4s are in sync. Even when I turn auto rotate on and I rotate the phone half way through the video it catches up within 2 seconds. And no confirmed BRODs, Good job SE. (at last)

EDIT: @Mrwoll: When you press any of the volume keys on O2s firmware, it asks if you want to turn increasing ring off. If you have increasing ring off already I believe it just alters the ring volume.

@Terminatorak

Thanks for clearing that up. I will stick with my generic FW then as I find the Phone Status very useful

Volume buttons on O2 R1F still change the volume and does not show Phone Status as with previos SE phones

darrengf - Cons
• When using File Manager you can no longer select the files by using the first letters of them

Just checked this and my phone and it does allow me to select files by the first letter

Sorry for the late reply.

The volume keys in o2 firmware will never change to show the status.

O2 requested that the volume keys was used for the volume only.

And dont worry if anything happened to your phone.

You would just be able to flash it again, unless you really damage the phone circuit board

@brayjd

Regarding your question

On my R1FA035.

If i press a letter t for themes then nothing happens

So i have to manual move the joypad down.

When im in a folder and want laser precision theme and press l, this does work fine.

sorry should have been more clear.
