I'm glad you mention the T9 keyboard. I was using it as an option to the QWERTY keyboard. To select it, all I had to do was flcik the QWERTY board to the side and the T9 keyboard would appear. My problem is, I've somehow turned off the T9 keyboard and am unable to find it. I've asked several times, but no one has been able to help!

Earpice has improved after 2.1 update. I hardly complain about it but I have couple of disappointments:
Really? I'd hate to know how quiet it was prior to 2.1. I've only used my phone with 2.1 on it, and it's disappointing that I can only hear the caller if it's a relatively quiet environment. Fine at home, but forget it at work where it's noisy. And I'd imagine busy streets and shops would be a problem too. I've used all my other

phones at work without needing to find a quiet area to be able to hear the caller!

@Ofiaich no probs, just glad you got there eventually
@rikken & Haribolman
Go to:
Settings > Language & Keyboard > Chinese keyboard settings
Then either:
turn on Swipe to switch layout
OR
under Portrait keyboard (and Landscape keyboard if you wish) select 12-Key PhonePad
exit the menu
long press a text box and change Input method to Chinese keyboard
Is that what you mean?

Ricky, thanks very much for your detailed explanation.
However, I'm still having problems. I'm easily able to select the "switch layout" option in the Chinese keyboard, and I can also select the "12 key phonepad", however when testing the keyboard in messaging, I am still unable to select the T9 keyboard by swiping. In fact, the keyboard does not appear at all!
Also, why is it selected in the Chinese keyboard options? Seems strange that it's not an option for the default keyboard.

@Haribolman This setting is for the Chinese keyboard and will only be usable when you have the Chinese keyboard selected as your input method. It's what I use and of the pre-installed keyboards that's the only one that will give you a swipe to change layout option.
I believe the Chinese keyboard apk was put together by a third-party company hence why it's features aren't the same as other keyboards. I use the Chinese keyboard as my primary as I like the slide up for CAPS and slide down for special characters/punctuation on the qwerty layout. It still has an English T9 dictionary and if you don't press the extra small key you'd never know it was Chinese.
If anyone knows any different I'm happy to be corrected but this is how I perceive the situation.
