I suspect Nokia would right now be building a phone that would knock the shine outta the P990, and any further delays in the release date by SE, would be like shooting oneself in the foot.

I agree but that is unless if delayed 1 more qtr that their B2C (business to consumer) site that was proposed over OTA download contains a multitude of apps that are in high demand for their feature set. Furthermore if they bump the memory stick to 1GB & add in a HBH-DS970 to sweeten the deal, even if its for a limited time offer ... say the initial first 2 weeks. Lastly I do hope it can ship in quantity.
I'll most likely wait until the 3rd or 4th firmware release before purchasing mine, unless something catches my eye before then.
Common SE, enough of the games give us the P990i in working order fast!

You would think that with at least 3 of SE's new phones running UIQ 3, they would concentrate pretty hard on getting it to work right, so the P990 probably won't be delayed further than Q2. If it was, then the M600 would get delayed too I would assume, and then the W950, which would leave SE without a smartphone for like a whole year! Here's to hoping it will be sooner than later (especially since it was initially supposed to be Q1 release).

I get the impression however that the P990i's version of the UIQ interface will come with more sophisticated options, for developers and software.
Its possible thats why the P990i might come out after the M600i, but i doubt after the W950i, thats not coming to Q3 anyway.

the delay in the p990's release has really helped the o2 atom grab the market. it's selling better than it's predecessors at a little less than $1000 u.s. different os but very similar specs.

No 3G, and no video calls though.
Also, no auto focus on the camera, and the screen says 262k, but only 65k "effective" - probably meaning it only uses 65k colours, and 262k when viewing pictures / videos.

Hi
I don't know if this is old news, but have you read the part IV of the MR review?
http://mobile-review.com/review/sonyericsson-p990part4-en.shtml
Some quotes:
"The camera is going to be changed, as well as its technical specifications, that's why there is no point in demonstrating video clips made with it."
"The release date of the model is the middle of July, and the price is still the same - 800-850 USD"

Yes, they were rather disappointed with the phone.
As for your quotes, i think he means the camera software still needs some work, rather than it being changed completely, rather than it being made 3mp or whatever you might think..
But then, have you also read the N80 review ? they were even more disappointed with that phone too, in fact, they've totally put me off buying the phone now.
